Take however you want. I'm just passing information...true or false, I don't know.
It will be interesting to see what happens in another two daysTopic: "On 1/11, an announcement will be made that will rock [this] Gaming Hardware Board"
A thread with this title appeared on the Gaming Hardware Board on 2Channel (Japan's largest BBS service) yesterday, garnering 2200+ replies as of right now
The original poster provided no concrete sources, only saying the following
"This annoucement will be a shocking one. It will mark an end to the next-gen war and bring peace to the Gaming Hardware Board.
The key words are:
-zokuhen (sequel)
-iten (transfer)
-chushi (cancellation)
-kotai (change,as in change of the guard)
-sonzoku (continue to exist)
I imagine you don't know what this is all about, but you will on the 11th."
Edit:
I remove that bottom cause it was base on pure speculation, plus this announcement can go either way Sony or MS. So I want to be fare to everybody.

I'm thinking it would either be something about FF13 or MGS4.

Maybe this is something to do with the HDMI 360?

So is this a good thing or bad thing. I can't take anymore.

It might not be about something from the PS3 going to 360, it might be the other way around. Although i doubt it.

Anyone got a link or screenshot of this? If so, cheers

Hmmm, if it's a hardware board, it might be about the new 360.
sequel = new 360
transfer = MS will have a program to upgrade your HDD and transfer your info to new one.
cancellation = core pack cancelled
change,as in change of the guard = they think this will make MS #1
continue to exist = current Premium pack

Well this should be interesting!
I hope it doesn't really make me mad...
It could be anything though, or even false.
------------------------------------------------
sequel = Blu-Ray add-on
transfer = MS will have a program to upgrade your HDD and transfer your info to new one.
cancellation = HD-DVD
change,as in change of the guard = they think this will make MS #1
continue to exist = current Premium pack
I just changed Alemans a little...

So we're speculation about a quote on a forum that was quoting another forum in a different language with no sources?
Hmm, it'll be something HDMI related.

I'm just spreading the info, like I said true or false, but I don't think the Japanese admin over at IGN would have posted this if it didn't have any credibility behind it or wasn't true at all.

I hope it's about MGS 4 or something PS3 / 360 related...
it said it'd end the console war? Why would introducing a new version of the 360 end the console war? It may help 360... but not end the war...
And if were speculating, why not dream big? What if Killzone was canceled? Or the sequel to Halo will go multi-platform... or MGS 4...
Stupid? Possibly. Likely? We'll see.
Can't wait.

I think this will become another "Christmas Eve Re-Emergence day" type of event...come to nothing.
If it's the new SKU...with free exchange...........

Just a note, a sequel to Halo will never go multiplatform. Bungie, and as such Halo, is owned 100% by Microsoft. The only way this would happen is if Microsoft were to stop making the Xbox at all, which needless to say isn't going to happen in the foreseeable future.
I have no real clue what this is about, but I will see if my wife can dig up anything interesting on 2Chan about it. She checks out that board on occassion. For all we know it could be nothing more than a random rumor thread like you see pop up here now and then.This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. I reckon it's probably the new sku. Seeing how half the world knows about it by now they might aswell officially announce it. Looking foward to Thursday though, with the new gears patch aswell.

I doubt this will be anything earth shattering. I mean what a way to promote big news.....

A new SKU is not alone enough to justify the type of hype being given to this supposed "announcement". It would have to be a major game of some sort changing hands.
Being that this is Japan we are talking about, more than likely the shift of title would be away from Sony as they are the current leader from last generation with close to 85% marketshare. It would not make sense for it to go in their direction if it is going to change things.
Now, this doesn't also imply that the shift would happen in the 360's favor. Due to slow PS3 sales and the impressive sales of the Wii, it could be a shift in the Wii's favor in Japan.
Given the "scope" of the announcement as portrayed, one could imagine that it will be more than one game and likely entire exclusivity of one or more companies shifting if true.
The companies to watch for are Capcom, Koei, Square-Enix, Konami, or possibly a few smaller developers like Tri-Ace, Level5, Azure, Idea Factory.This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
