Microsoft will quite clearly be well chuffed with this, as the 360 is doing magnificent numbers during the launches of 2 rival consoles, Gears is still making waves, and the lovely wireless controller also does huge numbers.

Great job Microsoft, Sony not so much.

The interesting one is the Wii controller, they sold 646k controllers for only 1.2m consoles! Pretty astonishing really. Of course, PS3 owners have no friends so they don't really need extra controllers

Just a reminder that these numbers do not include walmart and other large chains...as well as online...

it was a good holiday season for everyone. All three consoles made their shipping goals. Props to gears for such a great showing.

Good job MS, you *******s

Sony are still new to this gen's game, give them a chance, it's only fair, you'll see in the months to come.

Ok, apparently your guys' perspectives on Microsoft's sales figures are off if you think those 1.1 mil were sold to actual customers.
That number stands for what they shipped to retailers, not a sales figure from actual customer sales.

strange COD3 360, outsold COD3 ps2. Did they come out at the same time?
It's pretty impressive that with 360's limited install base being < 10 million for most of the year, it managed to get 3 games in the top 10. PS2 getting 5 in the top 10 with 120 million consoles.

It will be interesting to see how the 360 does next holiday season. Bill Gates could be right in the assumption that the '07 holiday season can be very telling of how the console race will go.

I think it's safe to say the 360 is going to have a great '07 holiday if everything goes to plan, with a 360 price drop during 2007 combined with the release of 2 of the most highly anticipated next-gen games, Halo 3 and GTA 4. Microsoft is bound to have bundles for both games too.
Edit: Oops I seem to have double posted, apologies.

The 360 will rock Holiday 2007: Halo 3. Nuff said.

Since after xmas when I was at a local gamestop, bestbuy, circuit city, and wallmart; they still had loads of them appearing as though they hadn't sold hardly anything. I don't really doubt the the ability of the 360 to sell well, as I myself have one and enjoy it. I just don't like how microsoft produces their sales figures, sony and nintendo have it pretty straight, they produce actual sales figures and the amount they have shipped.

Yea, the 07 holiday season should be very interesting.
The 360 will have Halo 3 and a price drop, and the PS3 will have some of there big titles out by then, i don't know if they will have a price drop are not by then, and the Wii will still be in the mix as well.
I hope all three do well in 2007.

I see the PS2 is still owning the 360

Honestly, I still don't think it's too late for Microsoft and Sony to bury the hatchet and do what is right. 2007 could also be a nightmare for the industry if the Wii keeps it's momentum up..
Can you imagine if both the PS3 and the 360 have to endure Wii ports? You have been warned people.
