Where should the next Grand Theft Auto take place?

We've had Miami (Vice City) and the new San Andreas (wherever that is!)
So where should the next on take place, here are a few of my choices.

    Las Vegas

Tokyo (why not go global with this? This one is my favorite)

    Phillidelphia

    Hollywood

Moscow (lol, that would be fun!)

Israel (controversial to the max, this would never get sold!!! It'd be fun though)

Hmmm, can't think of any more![/list]

San Andreas is meant to be the State of California, and one of the areas on San Andreas is called Las Venturas I believe which is meant to be Las Vegas. Also Hollywood is in San Andreas which is Los Angeles. Moscow sounds cool and so does Japan, but Israel would be way too controversial.

I gurantee you it'd sale more copies than ever for that reason alone, but I dont like that idea though.

I think the game does need to venture beyond U.S. related cities for once.

Actually I think not, there an american company, they should keep it stateside...for now...however Tokyo is so clean and fresh that there aren't as much death in it as you think so Tokyo ain't a place unless you want to bring in lies and controversy.

Why should the fact that Rockstar is an American company affect where the locale of their game takes place. Is there a rule that if your company is American then all your games should be based in America? So I guess all World War related games should of never happened because most of them were produced by American companies.

Yea that would be cool. GTA London was a cool game.

I doubt it would sell more if it were set in Israel. It will sell most when it is based in the most popular location and California couldn't be a more popular place to set the game in. I certainly wouldn't want to play GTA: Israel and I'm fairly confident in saying 90% of normal GTA fans wouldn't want to either, especially if they had a choice between playing GTA: Israel or GTA: San Andreas.

My vote would go with Tokyo, the place has a perfect image and it would be great fun going around those crowded streets. And plus - theres plenty of opportunities for enemies with all the Triad groups/Druglords/Gangsters floating around. I think London as a setting again would be a little poor; it would be full of tired cliches and bad accents. Russia doesn't sound half bad either.

Yea, Tokyo would be really cool. I can just imagine all the Yakuza fights etc happening all over the city. I can also imagine a ‘Kill Bill’ style mission where you have to invade a rival Triad gang’s base and chop their goons into sushi with a Katana Sword or something like that. Moscow would probably be even better though in terms of the levels of corruption coupled with cool Soviet military machines like MIG’s. Also a snowy environment could be interesting for GTA game, but for now I think I'm going to more than content with GTA: San Andreas.

hey...they should put a couple city's in one and make it GTA: 4 - Something...and then they'll have like 2-3 huge cities and stuffs...?

But however Tokyo is like real high-tech clean, not alot of crime, and stuff...you could probably do china

I wouldnt want it in tokyo, who would want to drive lose lil japanese shits around? where would you drive it? you would always be running over people and getting chased by cops..... I wouldnt mind one in Canada but the country is to clean not enough violence for a GTA game maybe Toronto but that doesnt seem likely

I think london is to overdone in games so i wouldnt want that,Not to sure on tokyo either,
Texas would be cool if it was kept in the usa.
I could see the series taking place in a place like mexico or south america, columbia or somewhere.

Canada would work well i think ( there is a division of rockstar here, Rockstar canada)

I think it will be a whjile before we see it though, i donbt think there will be another one for PS2 there is not much more they could do before the series becomes repetitive.
I think the first GTA on the PS3 wont have alot more new stuff to do than GTA SA but it will look so darn pretty we wont care :P lol

I doubt the Canadian goverment cough*the french* would allow it, the french have complained about a couple of games that had Canada in it such as splintercell pandora tommorow that game had 1 mission in Canada and the french didn't like it so they complained and had it taken out and as I said before Canda isnt violent enough to be a GTA game

Actually Osirus, you're right - Mexico or South America would make pretty good locationas. So many organised gangs/drug runners that you could have endless fun!

Yea, South America is a cool idea.

Really though what I care about for the inevitable PS3 version of GTA is better graphics first and a good location second.

In my opinion GTA and all the other PS2 games really needs a graphical boost. I’m not saying the graphics are bad, just that I’m getting bored with them. PS2 is five years old and that’s ancient in terms of computers. Role on the PlayStation 3 version.

I think tokyo would be terrible , they would not be able to make it crowded enough, or enough cars etc to represent it fully, n it would end up being set in the future n u would have lasers etc.

Another made up city would be good.

The graphics are not bad, they really cant make them any better for such a massive game, or otherwise it would be so lagg filled n slow.

London could be cool altho the accentsd would suck and there would be no storyline, Toronto wouldnt work cos nothing hapens there (i live there).

I dont see what more they can add, it might start getting repetitive with only the cities or states changing and a few minor differences.

If they keep trying to make it more detailed, with the getting fat and whatnot, the gameplay will become boring.

P.S. Has anyone gotten 6 stars on san andreas? I have tryied for ages, i flew over the restricted area and has dogfights with army planes, blew up like 10, killed 100 people but i still didnt get tanks n stuff on me, i only had 5 stars!!!

    1) If you havent heard by now Rockstar are looking at the Next Gen consoles on which they will develop their next GTA game, so it will most likely be possible to support those things you mention without a slower frame rate.

    2) You can get fat or thin in GTA:SA and it does not make the game more boring than before. You rarely have to eat and its not like it takes up alot of time, as it only takes a few seconds because fast food restaurants are located all over the place.

    3) In order for you to get the ARMY after you you will have to get onto LAS VENTURAS.

    Los Santos- Max 4 stars
    San Fierro- Max 5 tars
    Las Venturas- Max 6 stars.
