I dont think you can blame shortages. There are enough PS3's, why else would one of the biggest retailers in Japan slash the prices ($80+) to move units? Didn't Sony confirm they've shipped a million units to Japan already? Shortages aren't the problem whatsoever...

Jesus. It's more than twice as expensive as the competition. Of course it's not going to sell as many units. Why are people so surprised by this?

I don't think it's a issue of things getting slower. I think that it's a issue of the hype dying down now it's time to deliver. The wii will expereince this too but it will be much worse. The PS3 really won't deliver to sway buyers in large amounts until they put things like Motorstorm (the all mud map) on a kiosk or Heavenly Sword. I'm not sure what the wii will have to do regain hype after it dies, we will see.

Hmm because its Sony and because Playstation is expected to SELL in Japan.

Here are last weeks sales for comparison:

Sales have picked up a little though the ratio remains. Strange that Xbox 360 is still selling.

January is always a slow sales month, everyone is down overall its not just Playstation.

Also add to the fact Sony's game selection right now is not all that attractive to the Japanese gamer...both those facts make it difficult to sell a system which is double the price of a Wii.

HMM neither of those games are no where near being realease.... So if were going to see sales numbers like that until those games come out, thats not good....

January is not a good sales month , thats normal since no one has money left after christmas.

Besides , there are no Japanese titles out there at the moment.
Virtua Fighter will give sales a boost.

-__-.... Plz, gimme a break. This shouldn't be a shock to anyone out there. The ps3 will have sluggish sales for a while, give it time. The PS3 is a future investment and it's gonna take a lil faith by fans knowing it'll deliver.

After BC was fixed with the firmware 1.5, I saw noticeably more jpn gamers who said they would buy ps3 soon than before.

In another words, as soon as sony fixes any problems that might hinder gamers from getting one, we will start to see more sales. FF13 anyone?

XBOX 360 numbers are not worth comparing in Japan. People tend to more focus on Wii and PS3.

And Wii sold 4x as much as the PS3. What point are you trying to make? That's not exactly the best thing to go by considering the performance of the 360 in that region, it has done exceptionally well everywhere else though.

Yes, it is me.

I myself don't have an official link, but these numbers have been circulating the net, and they've been posted over at TXB as well. Noone is questioning them as far as I know, so maybe they have been confirmed already? Not sure.

in march there will be a boost of ps3 sales but then they wont be back up until the fall when the stream of games becomes steady.
