    Shutokuo Battle Impressions

TGS 2005: A large portion of Microsoft's Xbox 360 stand at this year's Tokyo Game Show is taken up by a theatre with a 360" screen showing trailers for upcoming Xbox 360 games. One of the most impressive of those trailers, particularly if it's representative of what the gameplay will look like, is for Genki's next Shotokuo Battle racing game.

The trailer starts out in a garage, where two great-looking customized cars have their hoods propped up to afford us a good look at their detailed engines. The camera then cuts to an impressive view of Tokyo at night, where the same two cars seen earlier are obviously getting ready to race each other. Both of the cars are tricked out with more neon lights than a '50s diner, and at one point we even got to see a bunch of neon-lit woofers and amplifiers in a trunk.

There's not a whole lot else we can say about the trailer at this point, except that it featured a couple of hot-looking female characters who will no doubt appear in cutscenes between races, and that it left us hungry for more. We'll bring you more information on the game as soon as it becomes available.

[LIVE]VGchartz: 5 million PS3's sold to consumers worldwide

VGchartz: 5 million PS3's sold to consumers worldwide
    By: Justin Pinter

Vgchartz.com is reporting that as of October 13th, 2007 the PS3 has sold over 5 million consoles worldwide.

    - 2.13 million in the Americas
    - 1.24 million in Japan
    - 1.70 million in other regions (including Europe, Australia, and others)

Total of: 5.07 million units sold

The PlayStation 3 first released on November 11th 2006 in the US, six days later in Japan and on March 23rd 2007 in Europe. The PS3 sold on a weekly average of 105,208 units, mainly competing with Microsoft’s Xbox 360 which currently stands at 11.83 million units sold. The Wii standing at 12.42M units sold.

According to Vgcharts, their data is based off of number of units sold to consumers, and not number of consoles sold to retailers. They explain that this is the best way to do it as it accurately shows how many actual consoles are in people's homes.

Now possibly with the release of the new 40GB PlayStation 3 and the $100 price drop of the 60GB, we may see a large spike in U.S. sales as seen in the U.K. If sales continue you could see the PS3 be neck and neck with it's competitors by next year.
