And the foundation of anti-BD reasoning continues to erode away. Great find.

To summarize: The internet is for porn... and the porn industry is lying about its gross(total..) value. Some say the industry isn't worth half of what it claims-- literally.

They aren't making as much money off of DVD and VHS as they claim.
They aren't making as much money off video-on-demand as they claim.
They aren't making as much money off the internet as they claim.
Downloadable porn and video-on-demand porn is hurting the sale of porn on the disc formats. Even on the internet the porn industries revenues are dropping due to amateur, free, and pirated porn, as they simply cannot compete. Therefore the article questions the impact porn will play in regard to emerging disc formats, such as HD DVD and Blu-Ray. It also calculates that porn accounts for only approx 2% of the DVD market. Add into the mix that Vivid Entertainment is releasing porn for both HD formats.

    I've said porn a lot.

That's what I got from it, paraphrased. Sorry if I skipped over anything, or if anything was inaccurate. :P

No disrespect to the non-lazy people that actually read the article.

It's obvious that at this age with the current internet usage that the porn industry has very little effect on this format war. I don't know anyone who pays for porn. They just like to act like they're still as important as they were with the last format war.

Besides as Lefein pointed out a few weeks back...

Porn in HD might not be the best thing in the world.
Besides... only weird people... or perhaps kinky married couples... pay for porn.

I am stunned that some people appear to love their Playstation(1,2,3) or Xbox(360) more than I love the Denver Broncos.
    Trust me, it's sad

I believe the video end of the adult entertainment industry is grossly overrated as far as the format war is concerned. Times have changed since the Beta/VHS days... HD discs have nothing on the power of the internet.

The golden age of porn on tapes, discs and other portalbe media is over. The industy is still huge for that kind of stuff, and the internet is a different story all together. But its not nearly the same as it used to be.

Yeah I agree totally, I see more in terms of sales then in comparison now (internet is a church of porn needless to say on whether payment is really more of a charity and not necessary). And as many others stated, HD porn really isn't for everyone as it might just show you a side of a male and/or female you may not want to see ie scars, bullet wounds, any minute detail that leaves you in a paralyzed state. In any case, I do see HD porn still be taken as an initiative to sell amongst early adopters of either format but not as influential as movie studies in general. With that said, is HD porn necessary? No. Would you like to see it then go back to whats easily found and free on the internet? I'm pretty sure the answer is yes.

porn will stay an internet monster while the movie studios will fight this one out but with the blu ray on the rise thanks to the ps3 its only a matter of time before the format is won and porn will not play one part in it. although some high def porn would be pretty cool to look at...
