    TV for Blu-Ray

Hey, hows it going ye knowledgable forum goers.

Just looking for a bit of help here, I don't have much money to spend on a TV but I definately want HDMI and 1080i(atleast)

So far I've chosen a Samsung LCD HDTV 32"

Can someone just help me out, tell me how this TV would be with a PS3 for watching Blu-Ray and playing games... it looks pretty good to me, and what's more I can afford it.
    I know it doesn't do 1080p but that's alright.

Does anyone have this tv or any thoughts on it and also if this TV is crap can someone suggest another I might buy.

Ok, well it accepts a 1080i signal, but its a 720p TV (1366x768 specifically). That's not a terrible thing (at that size a full 1920x1080 is overkill) it's worth noting. You'll only get about half the resolution off of Blu-ray movies and games designed for 1080p. Again, on a screen that size, the additional cost of a true 1080 panel isn't really justified, so you should be fine.

As far as the TV itself, I always recommend Sony or Samsung for LCD TVs, so although I haven't seen that model specifically, you shouldn't be disappointed with that Samsung. One minor annoyance: for the best picture on all PS3 games, you'll want to output 720p (by deselecting 1080i as a supported resolution), but output Blu-ray at 1080i (by reselecting it before playing a movie). Not a huge deal, but it can be a little annoying -- although, hopefully Sony will make it easier to have the PS3 output your "preferred" resolution in a future update.

Thanks, that's all things I can deal with. As you say hopefully sony makes it easier to select the output and remember the different output for different formats.

I just want to say that there's a 50" 1080p Samsung DLP that's around $1900 right now at Circuit City. The price is supposed to drop when the newer 1080p models come out some time in the summer. If you can wait until then, this might be the best deal for you.

What is your absolute MAXIMUM budget on a TV? The absolute highest amount you'd be willing to spend on one?

And do you definitely want a flat panel TV? Or are you considering DLP tvs?

I would never buy a tv off the internet but maybe that is just me, unless it's a sony bravia (of course).

Dude make sure you check out the quality of the tv's in stores first before making your purchase when i went round lookin for a tv there are so many crappy looking ones no matter how expensive it may seem. Make sure you get the right one or you will regret it

Thanks for the advice guys... circuit city isn't an option as I'm in Australia, but I have already checked out the shops and stuff. The quality of the TV is more than awesome enough for me, as for the 50" I will probably wait until newer TV's come out just so I can get the 32" cheap enough, but we'll see what price the 50"s end up as.

Thecell - Probably about $2000AUD... it's not that much, that's why I'm not going for a huge TV... but if I saw something that was exactly what I wanted and was anywhere under $4K I would probably just wait a bit longer to get the money.

Glad to hear, someone else finally has this TV...

And Xerious, if you'd read the topic, that really doesn't help me. I would love a bravia, but can't afford one.
