ESA threating to blacklist canada

That would really suck. I'm not Canadian or anything, but it's just not right. People overclock processors, video cards and all of that here. Canada develops a mod chip and all hell breaks loose? Gaming is getting way too serious for me.
Opinions are like Hobos, they all stink.

What does it mean to blacklist? Does it mean that Canada won't be receiving anymore US-made games?

Choose one of the three?
1. A list of persons under suspicion, disfavor, censure, etc.: His record as an anarchist put him on the government's blacklist.
2. A list privately exchanged among employers, containing the names of persons to be barred from employment because of untrustworthiness or for holding opinions considered undesirable.
3. A list drawn up by a labor union, containing the names of employers to be boycotted for unfair labor practices.

THis wud also be a pretty stupid move seeing as how most of Canadians have internet and friends who "know there way around" so guess wat... 25% of the "illegal" games/music/Movies community etc. has juss turned into 99%

If they blacklist us and we're not able to buy US games, I'll just pirate the games from the US. I can't buy them, so... Also, great studios (incl the ones that made Assasin's Creed) are in Montreal!
EDIT: I read it and it's about Music and Videos. Well, I buy CD's so I can support the bands I like, so I guess I'm the minority. However, I do pirate music and video. It's not illegal in Canada to download stuff, just illegal to upload.PSN ID: solinent | I accept all friend requests! |

If ESA dares to do that, then they'll be threatened to face a side of Canadians that has never been seen: RAGE!!!
It'll be war of 1812 all over again, where we thoroughly kick the ass of the Americans, take all their ****, and go back home for a round of alcoholic beverages."and I mean If he doesn't like you after he sees this, then you're just gonna have to go back home and put some more make up on."

I doubt very much they will. You know how much money they would loose? This is a scared tactic to scare us so will get behind them so "we" don't loose any games. So they are punishing us all because of some company making a mod chip? Lets you know what they think of their customers.

Ahhh, Blacklist.. I learned about Blacklist in Visual arts class in film school. Hollywood had a Blacklist in the 1950's with Actors or other people in the industry that was associated with communism in Russia. And if you didn't name names then you are blacklisted also. So you won't be able to get good paying jobs in the filming industry or anything job at all.
Soooo if you think about it in this case... then us Canadians being blacklisted can't be all too good.
I wouldn't take this seriously, I think they are only Blacklisting the black market of video games, because if we can't buy US made videogames, it can't be positive for the gaming industry in general.
Thats my take.PSN ID - DweetRight

Once something becomes big business, the fun goes bye bye.
Gaming has turned into a complete media, and political fiasco. Conservative, and even groups that aren't conservative, have created a complete hypocracy. Here in America, we have military recruiters going to public schools a few times a week trying to get kids to sign up and go to war. Kids as young as 13 are being pursuaded by adults to sign up and go someplace where they have a very good chance of being killed, yet they're worried about the harm that VIDEO GAMES will cause.
Absolutly unbelieveable. An optimist thinks that this is the best of all possible worlds.
A pessimist fears this is so.

Do Canadian's have a bad side? i kinda think on the international stage they're very quiet. Their neighbor on the other hand, is a different story.

So let me get this straight. We are supposed to be black-listed by the United States government, because of lax rules on copyright infringement?
Yes, I can agree with that. I mean, the American government has reduced piracy in their country down to zero, so I am glad that they are taking the lead in helping other...
...pssst
What?
...they haven't gotten rid of piracy...
They haven't?
...No
Well then why the hell are they blacklisting us?
...hell if I know...maybe they think we have WMD's
Well tell them they can't have our oil anymore.
...wait...they're saying something...
Yes?
...we're off the blacklist now

It is not in the US Govt best interest to black list Canada at least not now. We supply the US with Electricity, Oil (we do have one of the largest oil deposits in the world) Wood (Again some of the biggest Softwood sources available), They get on us canadians for having relaxed laws on everything yeah we don't get in major trouble for smoking a joint and the US is the only reason it is not completely legalized up here. The US will try to bully us into doing what they want. Yet you guys can carry a gun and that is were 99% of all illegal weapons come from in Canada is the US, same will cocaine and other hardcore drugs, and we get blacklisted for it not being illegal to download a movie for personal use.
or modifying a piece of hardware that we purchased we paid good money and we can do what ever we want with it.George CarlinEinsteinThink of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.Great spirits will always encounter violent opposition from mediocre minds.

I've said on numerous occasions that I would only join the military if there was some alien, global threat. But I'm not going off to Iraq because my government wasn't smart enough to avoid throwing themselves into Vietnam 2.
Most of the oil imported to the US does indeed come from Canada. I believe our second largest source comes from parts of Africa. We better not P.O. those Canadians. An optimist thinks that this is the best of all possible worlds.

If they blacklisted Canada, all that would do is change the 25% pirated to 100% pirated... we live in the Internet age and the United States is an hour or two drive away from most Canadian cities, that'd be a very dumb move.
