Bring back Graphical Semantics thread?

I noticed there are talks about the videos about PS3 games being CGI and not being CGI. Isn't that's a misconception? According to True Poet, CGI is something compiled by a computer and displayed on the screen, so that's would include both in-game graphics and real-time graphics. Maybe it'd cause less confusion if people start using the word "FMV" instead of CGI.

Hm the easiest thing would be to have a mod or admin move the post to the Rules or some other designated area and sticky it. Still, there reall is no "clear" way of getting people to read it. Not a bad idea though Arcturus.

Well, it would make it easier to link to, so that you could inform people of it. That post was really well put together, and I definetly could have used it a few times in some of my debates. I think it should be brought back from wherever it is.

Actually i love your ideas Legendary Arcturus and Perfect Sin, thats got to be the best idea ive heard concerning that thread!
Ive learnt a few things from it as well that i never used to know, mostly to do with Aliasing though

Alot of people have been wrongly using CGI for awhile now, not just on this site, everywhere! lol
Even some magazines have misused it!!

Simple as this..
CGI is anything you see on a display device that is showing computer data period! Even this sentence!
FMV, in terms of gaming, is a video (possbly audio, not always) sequence that was pre-scripted/pre-recorded and almost always at higher detail

Thats one thing that gets to me alot lol, bit of a pet peeve because ive saw it SO much..

Why not create something that holds all the most FAQ about PS3 hardware? Something where the url would be http://www.ps3forums.com/pinboard.html

Down the left hand side have links to the most asked questions about the hardware, and when a person clicks on those links it opens inside a window on that html page. I don't mean a pop up window, just a certain size window on the right of the links.

Know what I mean? I can make a rought design if you guys are intrested?
