    Dust Prevention

Guys is there anything i can do (other than buy an expensive air filter) to keep dust out of my ps3. My house i kinda dusty and i burned up my ps2 because of dust and i even used the vac on it. Why didnt they make some kind of pre filter that you can pull out and wash off and then put back in your ps3

Well unless your house is mega dusty, you could buy a can of compressed air and blast it every now and then to keep it clean.

yeah compressed air can be used for cleaning out dust. When wiping your case use kleenex or a cotton diaper(a clean one). To actaully prevent dust from getting in I remember some 3rd party acessory maker was producing silicon covers for slots on the ps3 including the disc slot. The only thing they don't cover is the ventalation holes.

I believe they do make some sort of dust magnet that you place beside your components that attracts the dust to IT, rather than onto your electronics.
I need to find more info though.

I've been wondering about a product that protects my PS3 from dust, as my house requires daily cleaning.

I've been looking around to see what third party add ons I could find to keep the ps3 clean and prevent massive dust getting in.... so far no real luck. Most addons are cheap plastic covers [but if they work and someone knows do tell] and things to keep your ps3 cool. The one feature no one really expected it to be was it would be such a big dust magnet XD!!
Waiting For: KoF 13. FF13 VS. MvC 3.

My house is also dusty what i do is keep it upright so when its on the fan pushes the air up so i feel that the dust is not accumilating in the vents.

When i turn it off i use the same foam cover sheet that came with my Playstation 3 (the white cover that was keeping my ps3 scratch free) to cover the whole ps3 it seems to be working for me maybe later on i'll put ceramic tile in my room to keep my best friend in a less dusty environment.

Just used some air and blow the system out every few months.

My PS2 didn't work properly for nearly a year, I did that, and everything was fine. It even started playing CD's and DVD's again.
An optimist thinks that this is the best of all possible worlds.
A pessimist fears this is so.

GUYS!!! Use a used dryer sheet, and gently rub the entire exterior of the ps3. You only have to do this about once a month and it does wonders ... TRUST ME!

Please don't vacuum your electronics (i.e. computer, PS3). It produces static electricity that can really hurt the components inside, use compressed air.

    This is what i use:

    http://www.air-purifier-power.com/FPN60CX.html

    Purchased here:
    http://www.abcvacuumwarehouse.com/va...CX+Air+Cleaner

It does wonders for the amount of dust that floats in the air. Everyone seems worried about dust on ur PS3, but no one has mentioned the health aspect of a dusty house. If you have allergies, this thing will help....NOT the Sharper Image and Brookstone crap. The first link is from a reviewer that has tested multiple products and works for neither company. I got the Sharp unit and I can attest that it really works. We have 3 dogs and 1 toddler and needless to say, lots of dust and dander is generated and this thing keeps our main room clean.

You should try getting a Trane CleanEffects™ whole house air cleaner!

That's not true at all. It depends on your climate and how old your house it. Dust is under your carpet in fairly old houses/apartments and when you walk around, the dust flys up in the air ans whala! Dust. Also living in southern California of Arizona were it's a fairly dry climate also makes it worse.

when I lived in Kansas (were it's more humid), I hardly ever had dust problems

Dust for some is really something you cannot stop. I live in a Log cabin with Wood stove and about 5 miles from a paper mill, there is no way in the world to keep my house dust free. What you could try is some Anti-Dust spray used for Allergies, however this will not stop dust from being pulled into the unit only stop it from settling on the top.

Most dust is human skin, so blame yourself. Unless you live in a log cabin with a fireplace ^^^

God I have wanted a log cabin in the mountains since I was 16. I'm gonna have one I swear! Invemere will be my place of choice on the lake.
