Top Ten Reasons New Game Consoles Suck (this guy is pretty narrow minded)

I saw this article when I launched firefox, and thought us gamers should take a look at it.

Pretty lame stuff.

It's been a while now since the "next generation" consoles have come out and the sales numbers are in. Nintendo Wii is winning but the Microsoft Xbox 360 is selling games. The Sony PlayStation 3? Well we still have to wait and see. Me, I'm just pissed off with whole thing!

Here is the definitive top ten reasons new consoles SUCK!

10. What to do with old Consoles?

I have a PS2, and PSOne a few Nintendo consoles and an Atari somewhere in my house and I just don't know what to do with them. Whenever new consoles come out, the old consoles just loose their luster IMMEDIATELY. People rag on PC gaming, but at least you don't have to throw out your old computer every time a new computer comes out!

9. All Your Friends Play Old Consoles, While You Play Alone On the New One.

Apparently the entire planet has a PS2, while I am the only one with a PS3. In my snobbery in needing the new and the latest, I have alienated all my friends that I played with and now I play Resistance: Fall of Man by myself. The other thing is, now I have no one to borrow games from. Having a new console is a very lonely existence.

8. HDTV Is the Reason For the "Next" In Next Gen.

Woo Hoo you can play in High-Definition now! WOW! So cool! Thanks for getting me to by something that costs between $300 and $600 to have to buy ANOTHER thing that cost $2000-$5000 to get the benefit from it! Sony is laughing all the way to the bank. Maybe they released to PS3 to get people to buy the Sony Bravia? They botched the launch, well maybe not!

7. This Thing Is Cool Only If People Are Over

People may get the feeling I am anti-PlayStation 3 or anti-Xbox 360 but I not. I am pissed off at all of them. With the Wii, it's basically a console that you have play with friends. If you are home playing Wii Sports by yourself, there is something wrong. God knows that I have practiced boxing on my own; to make sure I could beat our editor John B. But that was the extent of my sad lonely Wii playing. Nintendo, please FOR THE LOVE OF YAH-WEE get online play added!

6. The Old One Had it? How Come This One Doesn't?

This happens all the time, in this round of consoles it's the rumble. Why in the hell doesn't the PS3 have rumble while the PS2 does? That doesn't make any sense? Now, I cannot claim to be an expert but I am sure the other consoles are missing peripherals.

5. Does It Really Have to Be This Cute?

Oh Nintendo! Yes YOU! Why do the Miis have to be so emasculating? As gamers are mostly men, why do you present us with these little Nancy-boy things? Give us something with teeth, that's tough! Are we not men?

4. Play Online? Who Has That Many Friends?

I'm looking at you Xbox 360! What's up with the whole Gears of War thing sucking unless you play online? And cooperative play, who really wants to kill with another man. That's pretty borderline. It's almost like holding hands with your kid brother when you had to walk with him across the street. You get that icky feeling inside, you know what I mean right. I want to kill alone. I don't want to HAVE TO play online to get value out of a game. Also, Xbox Live? Gamer Points? Do I really have to have friends to gain status? Isn't sitting in the basement playing video games enough anymore? We have to go and make friends too; oh brother!

3. Its Too Goddamn Expensive

$400-$600 to buy one of the HD capable machines. That's a lot of coin. It's just not worth it. There is a reason the PS3 and Xbox 360's aren't selling through their stocks. They are too expensive! Sure gamers are getting older and all, but how are they supposed to slip this one past their old ladies? Have that $600 show up on the old bank statement and see what you wife/girlfriend says about it. It won't be pretty. I mean, that's half the price of a vacation!

2. You Can't Find One

Oh you kooky console makers! Do you purposefully try and make us GO CRAZY! We want our game platforms and we want them now! All that advertising and all the hype and the consoles are sold out everywhere. What's the point in that? Are you just trying to piss people off? Hey, guess what? It worked, I'm pissed!

Yes! Shooting up the charts to number one like a bullet! There are never any good games for new offerings! People buy them, they are excited and we just look at the box with our measly one game and hope for the NEXT Holiday season for the first killer game. No thanks! Next time new consoles come out, you can count me out. I'm waiting.

He makes some good points. But, I think he is being a little bitch about it. I've had my past proclaming my grievances against Sony, but I think this individual took it a bit far.

I was thinking about that, on my way to EB today. Gaming has gotten so expensive, as well as the games themselves are a lot more complex, when it comes to gameplay and story. Casual's simply don't have the income, the time or patience to play "next-gen" games. Maybe in a few years, the PS3 and 360 will trickle down to the majority of the gaming population, but in the mean time, its our time to reign!

Wow this looks a lot like the CNET article that got posted. I almost thought this was a doubled topic. I wonder which article inspired the other?

After skimming through this one I'd say the CNET guy had more credibility than this guy and that's saying a lot if you read my comments about the other one.


Just like I couldn't wait 8 months for the PS3 (started saving around the beginning of '06) I can't wait for another 8 months to see the PS3 leave everyone of these muckrakers and FUD-rakers in the dust or out of a career (in this case I'm referring to Peter Moore with this one, he's so getting fired if the 360 flops worse than the Xbox).

its his own damned fault for buying into the market too damned early. I'm waiting. My PS2 works great and I have about 20 unfinished games (mostly 40+ hour rpg's!) so I've got plenty to do until the PS3 gets some content. The end of this year, or beginning of next year, I'll jump right in with a bevy of great game to chose from. No waiting for me!

All the points are valid but very arguable, all of them based in personal opinions. And that is all he is trying to expose, his personal opinion. I would not say it's lame, or wrong, it just doesn't go with MY personal opinion. If you asked me, he is a very classy gamer heated because his PS3 is ALL but classy.

He did have some points and he is entitled to his opinion but this guy was completly offended by the consoles like they were designed to haunt his dreams so he can't sleep at night. how are all those points valid? he talks about the wii like only a girl should paly it because its small, and the ps3's price tag is because its basically a computer, and what kind of vacation can you get for 300 to 600 dollars. going to a hotel for a week isnt a vacation!

Right - you don't have to throw away the old computer. You just have to throw away the old video card every time a new card comes out. Just toss away that $500 investment like it wasn't something that could have bought one of the next-gen systems that are apparently so expensive.

yeah, could be! but do we know? Anyways, I thought overall it was almost funny if you look at it as a "joke". just a bit tired of the same "problems" (NO DAMN GOOD GAMES for example... jeez) being brought up so my negative side got out right at the first sentence, the part of Wii being too cute was funny though.
