There has to be a way to stop things such as this. I've seen (news) and heard so many times about animals violently attacking humans (such as this baby). It seems that no matter how trained a dog is, they can and may go wild at some point in their life (not saying all of them do at some point but the ones that do, whatever the amount).

The owners just have to set boundaries and know that they are animals. Kids are unpredictable and may unintentionally hurt an animal and they may retaliate a bit. This was an extreme case. I've lived with dogs my whole life and have never been bitten.

I don't know that I'd say he just casually walked off, chances are he was also sh*tting himself.

If I were a passer by that helped, I'd be trying to cause as much injury to the animal as I could - it wasn't for letting go. I'm a dog lover but you need to draw the line when there's a chance of real injury involved to a fellow human.
