Tel lthat to Randall Cobb, Percy Harvin etc.

Sure, he's not gonna be a Calvin Johnson type - but I think this argument only has hold because the NFL is still some sort of boys club, and what comes with that is a an unwillingness or a a very hard resistance in terms of trying stuff that suits a player's skill set even though it may detract from "conventional wisdom".

IF teams can prepare some gameplan and plays that extracts the best of Tavon's abilities - then his size will not matter.

Both Cobb and Harvin are bigger than Austin's 5'8 frame.

Yes, he does have speed but it's his frame that's a problem. Look at DeSean Jackson. He can't take a big hit and he gets injured a lot. Tavon Austin will be injury prone just like him.

    Meh - agree to disagree.

Marvin Harrison (between 81-84 kgs; 180-185 pounds) was only about 3-5 kilos (6-8 pounds) heavier than Tavon, and sure he was taller - but that doesn't make a difference in this regard and generally at least, not in terms of frame.

Marvin's frame was always considered to be very slight.

    He had a long career.

    Indeed, agree to disagree.

The thing about Harrison is that was a different NFL. Players are bigger and faster than back when Harrison was drafted.

    Maybe.

But he did play until 2008. Let's not pretend bigger and faster was only invented in the last 5 years.

    True. Okay, you got me.

I do give him this, Austin would be a monster playing in the slot. Oh boy, I hope the Patriots don't get a chance at him . . .

The hoodie isn't known to trade up. But you never know. he might wrangle some weird deal with the devil again and somehow manage to trade up for him using only two 7th rounders.

No one sees him lasting past 16 at this stage. Though that's assuming there aren't many/any trades on draft day that allows some players to fall/rise.

I'm also getting annoyed of the Austin hype.

I can't get over the fact that he's only 5'8.

To be fair, he's only slightly smaller than Wes Welker, and much more of a dynamic threat.

Cordarelle Patterson is very intriguing as well. A bit raw, but great size/speed and dangerous with the ball in his hands.

The Patriots are going to take Sanders from the Steelers! So now all Big Ben has to throw to is #84! I know Steeler fans are pissed.

Hate to break the news to you, but the Steelers matched the Patriots offer yesterday and Sanders is staying with the Steelers.

Eech; 2.5million though? For an already cap-strapped team?

None of it is guaranteed and he'll have to earn it, it's basically 16 mill a year if he preforms

Edit. "With no guaranteed money in the deal, though, the risk for the Bucs is minimal and they are protected in case Revis' knee injury turns out to be worse than it really is".

Now the Jets have 2 first round picks. All AFC East fans better hope Milliner does not fall to the Jets.

Jets will take Tavon and a Pass rusher. They have enough confidence in Cromartie and Wilson I think, that they don't take one with their 2 first rounders. Maybe in the 2nd like DJ Hayden.
