I have notcied a few of you UK members have pre-orders from multiple retailers to increase the odds of getting one on launch day. I too, took out a few myself but as its getting closer and close to launch I am thinking of cancelling them and just keeping the one as its looking like Sony are out in force to make sure that they meet demand rather than go for the free publictiy of selling out with little stock.
At no time did I want multiple PS3s to sell on ebay, just figured I would cancel any orders that didnt arrive on launch day or if I recieved more than 1, I would easily move them on without a loss.
What do you guys make of the situation? Do you think the UK's 200,000 PS3s will be enough for demans or do you think they will run dry in days?

Well it certainly looks like demand will be met there or there abouts, as far as pre orders go anyway. Amazon are still advertising launch day consoles on their site, my local gamestore has is getting 25 consoles and they still haven't filled their allocation. I certainly don't think there will be any consoles on the shelves, but anybody who has ordered one up till now should be okay. I'm just worried for people that may have ordered with somewhere like woolworths or argos who appear to be taking orders for launch and beyond and will therefore have to wait in the store queue when if they had shopped around they would have easily landed one. I have cancelled 2 of 4 pre orders and am confident enough to be on the verge of cancelling another.

Some of the more popular locations will sell out almost instantly. Sony are keeping the allocations high to try and fulfill all demands, I don't think they will sell out everywhere instantly.. but it will be almost instantly when more advertisements start to come through.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure.

I think theres enough PS3's to meet demand at the moment. It's quite obvious there not selling aswell as maybe expected. Im unsure whether to get one at launch but I have noticed shops like HMV keep changing there bundles on an almost daily basis, that says to me there not sold out or selling aswell as hoped.
Im sure once the tv ads start the demand will increase but if youve ordered one already I think youll definatley get it.

Hopefully they will meet demand. The media will still have a crack at them if they do saying they aren't selling. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Sony can't win but at least it looks like they are trying to keep us happy.

But if you pre-order dont you have to pay a deposit?
So if he has one system he'll loose all the other deposit that he paid at the other retailers!

as far as it goes, even today my local game, gamestation and HMV all have signs out saying "preorder a ps3 today! GUARANTEED for launch march 23rd."
demand is either low or supply is amazingly high
either way, i'm chuffed.

you can also withdraw your preorder and get your cash back in most cases.
