Not for long my friend. Once Im back at Uni, my PC will be on from 7AM, an extra 6 hours folding, I'm usually up around 1PM, so I've lost a few hundred off my average, for now.
You think a 8800GT is good, try using a 275GTX, it eats them alive.
And a good laugh, is it'll take you 21.8 years to overtake me, I'm not sweating it just yet.
Seriously though, thanks for joining the team, we need the help.

What is your folding name?
As far you over taking me..that's fine, I'm just running it because I think its a good cause to do, and it doesn't cost me anything besides the few extra dollars to run the ps3..as I already run the computer 24/7.
I am looking at building a computer though..with at least a gtx260 gpu and possibly the new i5 cpu..might just go dual core as I won't need much for the cpu as most of the work is offloaded to the gpu.

I'm gonna fold with my Quad core and ATI 4870!
Is that right for getting the SMP client for both GPU and CPU?

You get the SMP client for the CPU, and a GPU Client for the graphics card. Couldn't be simpler.

Its really rather simple.
You need to choose either the Denio or Mpich client.
Denio only supports 32bit Windows, Mpich supports 32 and 64bit windows. For clarity I have the Mpich version running.
So its too long winded to put it on here, but the wiki page has the instructions you require. I know the link is for Vista, but it should be the same for all versions of windows.

Did you add the smp flag to the client ?
That might be the issue.
The shortcut you created, right click it, properties, then in the target line, add -smp, to the end.
And did you also get the 6.24 update to the executable ?

You could say that about all the clients that they provide. Someone on the official forums suggested an installer which detects your set up, and installs the best clients.

How are you getting that much points from just running the SMP client? (according to your stats page) your getting just about as much points as I am with me running a gpu client and the ps3.
O..forgot that you also run the ps3 (I think?) But still..the smp client doesn't put out that much points..does it? What cpu you running?

Hi everyone. Sorry about the slow/non-existent updates. I've been working my a** off trying to get my MBA, but I guess that shouldn't be an excuse to stop by here every so often. Anyway, I just updated the OP and I'll be back up and running tonight.

Nice to see from you again. Its alright if you need to take a break to keep up with your degree (I presume).
Oh, and if my stats are correct, we need to produce 1.4m points in the final 2 months to reach 100,000,000 points within 3 years. Quite an achievement for a small team (these days).

I don't see why not, the team was putting up that sort of figures only a few months ago. It seems we are currently on track, all we need for the next 3 weeks is to manage 333,333 points, and we did 335,000 last week.
Its also nice that Stanford have just migrated the stats onto a new server that updates in 5 minutes every hour
.

does anybody know which card would be better for running the gpu client my current 8600gt 512meg or a gt 210 512meg. i can get a gt210 card that will run in my machine without having to change the psu or anything so just wondered if it would be better for folding on than my 8600gt.
thanks in advancepsn id fumper so go on add me. it makes sence

Well I went from a 8600GTS to a 275GTX, and saw my monthly totals rise from around 45K points to 180K~200K points.
I'd recommend it. Sorry I can't get the data off from a guy that does it on the official website, seems the data file is missing from the link.
