    X-Box games are too DARK!

I've been playing video games for a while now, PSX, PS2, Wii, X-box and i noticed that the X-Box was the darkest of all the systems. I hoped this didn't transfer to the 360 but it looks like it has, in all the X-Box360 vs PS3 and Wii the X-box is still the darkest.

as seen in the game "Kong" it is said to be unplayable on a standard tv

It can also be seen in this Armored Core4 video, where the character is falling and on the X360 the game is almost pitch black

    TV contrast FTW!

    25 characters FTL!
Last Gen: Weakest console = PS2, Strongest = Xbox.
Console that sold the most = PS2
Futureproofing a console means getting dev support, not adding $200 of useless technology.

I think its the other way around, PS3 games have more brightness for some reason but if you turn the brightness down on your TV, or vice versa, the games are alike.

you can adjust gamma in most games and TVs can adjust colours and brightness.. this thread is insanely stupid.

Agreed. Between in-game settings and the TV, there is absolutely no difference between games. Retarded thread.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said that Kong on the X360 can appear too dark on standard TVs, making the game "unplayable." The development team apparently didn't notice, as it was testing the game on high-definition sets

Though the 360 looks too dark.

The ps3 looks like i'm still playing on a Black & white tv.

U guys shouldnt be trashing the 360 version (at least it has better textures)

When the ps3 version looks like the Devs were color blind

I didn't find King Kong to be unplayable, in fact I didn't even notice the darkness. Thinking back I can only find one stage where it was almost too dark, it was mid way through the stage in a cave just before you encounter the big ass dinosuar. On one side of the cave there were these boney spears with a fire next to them, which you had to swim through water to get. I thought that part of the game was meant to be played with a torch...

I'll play it again later on in the week to see if it's a huge difference. This time in high definition.

I've never played the game, just that Yves Guillemot was criticized for saying "try the PlayStation 2 or Xbox versions".

    Your an idiot.

This has to do with TV setting, contrast, gamma, you know things like that.

    Pointless, useless thread.

Damn those pics do look mighty dark, it actually looks like they screwed up the TV's brightness and contrast on the 360 version.

I saw the video from those screens that was the darkest part. overall you can tell which version of the game is running.

In my opinion it just seems like the 360 usually has deeper colors and better contrasts. as well as better textures and other small details. Its not that the ps3 is a bad system please dont take it as i hate ps3 but from the comparison vids we see 360 usually does look slightly better.... in my opinion
I <3 ps3 just wish it wasn't over a half grand to buy it

    Is this an OpenGL thing?

I noticed all PS3 games which have been ported are brighter initally...

I've opted MS to release a colour, contrast, gamma, brightness controller via the dashboard blades but I guess that may never happen, certainly would assist and benefit with those using the VGA connectors to play their games and movies upscaled.

Microsoft is in a strategic partnership with Kleenex which could result in next gen seeing a significant boost for the tissue manufacturer.

Aside from King Kong, which the DEV admitted that they screwed up, I have never heard of this complaint anywhere before now.

Short answer is NO, this is 1,000% false.

I have a high def CRT TV, and I will say that Forza does indeed have weird shading. It's like they tried to implement something like HDR and it didn't quite work right. Usually the image is fine, but when the camers points towards the sun, the shadows go almost completely black. Weird.

One more vote for gamma adjustments for the 360.
