I read from ps3 game page talking about this and that game freezes.
I was wondering if it's caused by overheating problem.
xbox360 has many errors and one of the biggest error would be freezing randomly.
I was wondering if ps3 is having a same issue, or is it just for certain games?
and will 65nm chip fix this type of problems?
My biggest concern about freezing is that my xbox360 froze many times and it lead to
3 flashing red lights of death and couldn't even play any games until I used product warranty. I always thought that xbox360 is crappy system because I never had any other system break like that and choosing ps3 is to avoice one of those issues. But I hear some similar issues that i hear from xbox360.

ps3 for one thign doesnt have the 3 red lights of death, if it over heats, it just shuts off, telling you to let it rest and relocate it before starting up again.

I think it's the gaming gods who cause games to freeze, but seriously on all of my consoles since ps2 including both xboxes the leading cause of freeze ups were EA games.

What causes freezes? 3 Possible Reasons:
1) Faulty Hardware or dust causing physical interference with the hardware.
2) Faulty Software (a.k.a. the game has a glitch that causes it to freeze)
3) System is overheating, thus temporarily hampering the performance of the hardware.
The 65nm chip may fix the overheating issue since the 65nm chip will generate less heat and use less power than the current 90nm chip.

In fact, I'd even be willing to say that for every 100 Xbox 360 freezes, only 1 PS3 freezes (this is just a stab in the dark based on a gut feeling).I am a moron. Do not argue with me because I will drag you down to my level and win with experience

On this note I would just like to whine for a minute. Me and my friends the other night spent four hours getting through one season of Madden. After one of my friends fell asleep at like five in the morning, we decided to play a 2 on 1 game. As soon as the coin flip came up, the game froze and we lost all of the previous hours of work. This was a PS2 game, I love my PS3 and the only freeze I ever had on it so far was while playing NBA Homecourt, only once...Anyone know if we are getting better gameplay this year from madden?

I don't know if this really helps, but I used to have Madden 07 on 360, and I went through 2 brand new copies, and they froze up a lot during play.
Got rid of 360, got Ps3, and haven't had any freezes during games in the 2 months I've had the ps3 (cept just once). However during movies sometimes it will lock up.

oh i hope what u just said is true because it's really annoying if u play a game and it says u have to restart the system because the system can't read the disc or whatever before you save the game or it happens in the important momoent of the gameplay.
I have 1 more question if u guys don't mind. Maybe both ps3 and xbox360 have freezing and overheating problem, but was there any ps3 that has something similar to 3 flashing red lights of xbox360 so you cannot play any games unless you send it to the sony company to repair it? I understand that both system have some problems now but i am going to be angry if my $600 worth system goes boom and can't play anything like xbox360 does very often.

I was trying to play Full Auto 2 last night and it wouldn't let me go into career mode. I would press it to start it and then it looked like it was starting to load and then nothing.
Anyone else had this problem? Or does anyone know what the problem could be?What I've Got: PS3, R:FOM, Motorstorm, VT5, NHL 07, THP8, VF 5, RR7, Full Auto 2, F1 CE, NBA 2K7 Sixaxis x4, 500gb External HDD, PS2 Memory Card Adapter, 3 x Charging Cradles

The PS3 is FAR less prone to freezing than the 360. So far I haven't heard of any real problems with it. Of course, there's always someone who's had problems, but I don't have a feeling that it's a widespread problem.
AFAIK no serious fault has been found with the PS3 hardware.

Let's say in very simple terms. The ps3 does not suffer from overheating problems, nor freezing problems other than what should be expected. Also the ps3 does not suffer from mass hardware failure so no 3 flashing red lights. Also Sonys hardware is pretty perfect all things considered for such an advanced beast.

It might "tell" you. Not with an actual language though...but rather with blinking lights, according to online PS3 manuals:
If the power indicator on the PLAYSTATION®3 is flashing red and green alternately:I've only had one freeze-up since I've gotten mine (January).- The interior of the system has become unusually hot. Check whether the system is being used in a hot location or whether the vents are blocked. Stop using the system and leave it unused until it cools down. Continuing to use the system in the above condition will cause it to stop functioning.
- The temperature inside the system has risen too high. Check whether the system is being used in a hot location or whether the vents are blocked. Touch the system's power button to stop the flashing, and then leave the system unused until it cools down. After it cools down, turn on the system again.
However...my 360 has frozen up with the "clean disk" crap twice just this week. I love them both though. ...the 360 is just a problem child.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
