I am not sure if HHH alone will move things to a more PG-13 oriented program. I think it all comes down to the lucrative contracts the WWE signed with toy manufactures looking for their return. Simply put, the more kids who watch and buy into the crap that is today's WWE product the more cash the toy makers haul in.
I am no Einstein, but it is the adults who have the cash. I remember quite vividly almost every male between the ages of 14-30 wearing Austin T-Shirts in the late 90's, nWo, D-X, and the list goes on.

The Nexus angle was the best thing to happen in the WWE in a long time. For the first time in ages (after it happened) I was excited and couldn't wait to see what happened the following week. I instantly became a huge Barrett fan and supporter, but sadly for whatever reason the WWE went down the wrong path with this group and destroyed something that could of been HUGE.
Same goes for CM Punk and his EPIC promo. That one promo could of launched into superstardom, and he could of became the biggest rebel since Stone Cold. However, the angle was dropped and instead CM Punk became the hardest working guy in the company. Instead of running his mouth on office politics, poor execution, company numbers, and so on, he tucked his feelings in his pocket and just starting walking through the entire locker room. I love CM Punk, but if played right (at the time) he could be much bigger than he currently is. The fans are crying for a rebellious superstar, as deep down we all want to be THAT guy.

Many years ago the WWE signed a huge contract with toy manufacturers, but the only way the toy companies would commit is if the WWE toned down their product to make it more appealing to children (or in other words the main consumers the toy companies target). I have no idea what the duration on these contracts would be, but I would assume (given normal duration standards) it would be no longer than 10 years.
Sure the viewer ship is down, PPV buy rates are down, but at the end of the day the WWE is still profitable and largely in part to these contracts. Once they are done I am totally on the fence as to what they will do, will they renew? Or will they go with a more adult oriented product? Time will tell, but for me (from a business standpoint) I would go with what is most profitable.

Basically yes. As long as there is huge profit to be made it may stay PG forever.

If and when they start to lose profit or ratings take the most drastic decline in years, we may finally see a shift into the tediously sought after direction the more mature audience is craving. But as it stands now there isn't any plans for things to change in the immediate future, and it is driving me crazy.

It seems I should have not posted that info then lmao
But as we have stated way way back in this thread... Kids of all ages were watching the attitude era, so it shows an old thing should never be renewed unless it needs to
And the WWE didn't need to renew the company... But it's in the creative team and vinces handsLast edited by claud3; 12-13-2012 at 17:55.

Keep in mind Vince WAS involved with most of the Attitude Era (endless Stone Cold feud), so it only makes sense that these contracts were the deciding factor for the WWE to take a different direction. I mean if anything what else could of made them change their product so drastically?

Scandal, lawsuits, logo change, deaths etc etc...
So many factors... But this does not mean they the WWE will relive them past acts, they can not tweak it
To blend well with modern day way of thinking

WWE has actually been operating at a loss for a while. They are PG because of the Mattel Deal and Linda Senate run. They doing all this and still want to make a WWE channel. LOL. If they do under current trend it will destroy them.

Really?
How/why would any business operate at a loss and not try to turn that around? If that is the case they are the dumbest company in existence. If something doesn't work, change it, evolve, don't keep ramming the same garbage down the throats of your consumers. Or in other words, John Cena.

A many a companies have operated at a loss loads of times
Ford, WCW, Enron before it went tits up, TNA when it was young, ECW, WWF/WWE back in the late 80's early 90's
The reason the WWE is operating at a loss. Is because they have a failing film studio, music studio and ratings means money, means ratings down. Revenue is down on that part.
With their slide on the market and linda's loss in run for Senate and the new endorsements etc....
They will make a loss before making a profit
Why they have not learnt is amazingLast edited by claud3; 12-13-2012 at 19:34.

I understand operating at a loss at certain junctures is necessary, much like a new console when it is first released and selling at a loss. But from what I see the WWE is not doing much of anything to curve the losses. The programming is still the exact same, with mediocre build ups, lackluster PPV's, and as mentioned above a failing movie studio.

Where did you read they're operating at a loss? I've read for years now that these are WWE's most profitable years actually. ._.
On the subject of PG, what boggles my mind is how far WWE has taken this PG crap. They can show blood, they can be edgy, they can have violence and weapons. PG doesn't prevent any of that. WWE just takes PG to extreme (may I say ridiculous) lengths.
Obviously I'm not completely up-to-date with PG guidelines, so I may have misspoken above, but I know for a fact PG doesn't restrict as much as WWE (or maybe its fans) pretend it does..
