Samurai Sword vs Bullet & Machine Gun

Bullet vs. Samurai Sword (Hand gun)
The Ultimate Samurai Sword (Machine gun)

I noticed that while lots of people believed that a Samurai sword can cut a bullet into two, the other people refused to believe that saying a bullet can go through a Samurai sword. You can watch the videos for physical evidence that a Samurai sword can well cut a bullet into two.

of course it can, bullets are designed to mushroom and split into pieces...doesn't matter what you fire it at, steel, glass, or even water. I really don't see the purpose of showing how a Samurai Sword can split a bullet cause based off the video, you'd be even more screwed because you're going to get hit in two spots instead of one.

Splitting a bullet isn't that impressive, go get some cheap sword and it'll do the exact same thing.

Haha, cheap sword cutting a bullet, do you know the expertise, time and skill it takes to make a Katana, a cheap sword would explode on contact. Btw this isn't a samurai sword (katana) on the "ultimate samurai sword" vid, it's been made in Korea, so a Japanese sword should last a little longer.

Not exactly samurai swords (real ones) are made from a very durable steel grade, the kind of swords that you find at a flea market that say (made in china) won't last a drop from 10 feet.

On Mythbusters they had an interesting episode where they tested if swords could actually cut other swords in half. So they used various types of swords and the results were interesting. They came to the conclusion that its not possible.

They had a katana being mechanically swung at a rapier that was held in a vertical stance and the katana did not cut it in half, but it did bend it so much in one stroke that it broke off a piece just after the strike.

Then they had a Claymore being swung at a Katana is similar fashion and the Claymore bent the hell out of the Katana, but the Katana was just barely in one piece.

Then the Claymore was swung against a Viking Sword and the Claymore got a small nick from the impact while the Viking Sword was fairly unscathed.

Really kind of pointless. Katana's are wedged shaped and strong from the front, but weak on the sides and back. Besides, those are probably soft bullets designed to fragment for maximum damage. A single shot to the side would snap that thing in half.
Last Gen: Weakest console = PS2, Strongest = Xbox.
Console that sold the most = PS2
Futureproofing a console means getting dev support, not adding $200 of useless technology.

doesn't matter, a steel block would split a bullet...it has nothing to do with the quality. News flash, bullets are brittle and split upon impact...you don't need an expertly crafted sword to prove that.

What's the point, it's not like you could ever be fast enough to block or slice a bullet with a sword anyway.

Yeah, your pretty much screwed if someone starts shooting at you, and all you got is a katana.

It's still cool nonetheless to see the bullet actually splitting into two distinct pieces and then making two distinct holes on either side of sword on the paper.

Please don't think that the Katana is some magical, untouchable melee weapon that Hollywood has lead you to believe.

Pretty cool! Although the result was how I expected. Samurai swords are pretty damn sharp, but then again bullets aren't particularly tough. Also it's pointless because as has been said before if you somehow cut a bullet in two mid flight your even more likely to die because now you have two flying pieces of shrapnel flying at you. Still thanks for the link!

After the first post, I have decided to look for videos of swords against bullets from video games.
    Soul Calibur 2 intro (Mitsurugi)
    Final Fantasy versus XIII Trailer
Devil May Cry 3 (Virgil vs Dante)
Metal Gear Solid 2 (Solidus Snake)

Are you guys aware of catching a bullet with your own hands?
