    which should i get?

    ok i ordered a mac before this big change and now that they basically don make what i ordered anymore, i get 2750 to spend so what should i do, here are my options:


    * 2GHz Dual-core PowerPC G5
    * 4GB 533 DDR2 Non ECC SDRAM - 4x1GB
    * 250GB Serial ATA - 7200rpm
    * NVIDIA GeForce 6600 256MB SDRAM
    * AirPort Extreme + Bluetooth
    * 16x SuperDrive double-layer (DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
    * Apple Wireless Keyboard & Mouse - U.S. English
    * Mac OS X - U.S. English

    * 2.3GHz Dual-core PowerPC G5
    * 2GB 533 DDR2 Non ECC SDRAM- 2x1GB
    * 250GB Serial ATA - 7200rpm
    * NVIDIA GeForce 6600 256MB SDRAM

    i dont know, its a tough decision, PLEASE HELP!

    I'd take option number 1, personally. Also, the quad core costs US$3,300 w/o customization so isn't it out of your price range?

    i get a student discount to so its still there, why 1 over 2?? im leaning towards two because i can upgrade ram, but not processor

    I'd go with the quad-proc system. RAM is easy to add, but you want to get as much power as possible while you still can from Apple. Frankly, it kills me that they are switching to Intel.

    Get the Quad, man! Anything less would be a shame. Graphics cards and RAM are a secondary thing to the actual potential of the system itself.

    I think you mean Mac. But yeah, definitely. It's like having dual 5.0GHz processors.

    but if i do that iget 512mb of ram, and mac ram is really expensive... its like 300 for 1 gb
