I'm looking to get this monitor with a HDMI port and then maybe I can use a headset for sound because it also supports audio ports as well.
Thing is, if I get a bluetooth 2.0 headset, I should be able to get sound directly from my PS3 correct? [edit: not correct] Which means that it doesn't matter if I have a HDMI port or a DVI port since I can get the sound straight from my PS3...I'm not a techy so I'm just guessing.
I don't want my monitor to do the sound because they're usually crappy so how important is HDMI in monitors when I can just get the sound off a headset straight from my PS3...are there features in HDMI that I won't be able to get from DVI?
Here's the monitor I'm looking at, I'm not sure if I'm going to get this one or keep looking but here's what I have: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824112005

HDMI is nothing but DVI with sound. There is no advantage other than not having to use a separate connection for sound.
The PS3 does not support sound over bluetooth headsets, at least not at this time.
It appears that if you use HDMI with that monitor, you should be able to use headphones from the headphone jack.
If you use HDMI or DVI, you could also output the sound via RCA and connect them to PC speakers with a game console adapter like this. http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/pr...ONTENTID=10036
If you want to do this, you might as well get a monitor with just DVI because HDMI would make no difference since you won't be using the sound portion of it.
If you plan to use a monitor with DVI, make sure it has HDCP, or else it will not even get a signal from the PS3.

Alright, although I'd prefer to do it from the audio ports in the back of the monitor...one question though, if I have the correct headphones, like say, 5.1 or 7.1 headphones...will the monitor actually let me hear that? Is it possible to get 5.1 and over from a monitor audio output? Or should I just rely on a 5.1 system separately...in which case, I wouldn't need a HDMI monitor.
Although that deal IS kickass because then I can just keep both of my DVI cable from my video card plugged in AND the HDMI cable from PS3...so I won't have to switch back and forth, I'm assuming that it features a switch from DVI to HDMI channel.
