    Favorite Final Fantasy

I know that every one has a different FF that they like the most. I always here ppl saying that FFVII is there favorite but I just dont see what they see in it. FFVIII is way better. FFIX was just a waste of characters even though they had some good CG movies. FVMs. but a mouse boy as the main character? Come on.

    Mine is VIII.

FF7 was the best Final Fantasy game in my opinion. For comparison I’ve played to death FF8, and FFX but not FF9 – the characters looked to childish, and it didn’t really capture my attention, but I’m sure it was a good game Final Fantasy 7 was a breathtaking game, it really influenced me. At first I thought "What the hell is this!” as I hadn’t played any of the other Final Fantasy games prior to FF7. I was so disappointed I wouldn’t play it for 2 months! Then my next-door neighbour showed me how to play it, and I really got into it, and I’m so glad I did – I would have been missing out on something very special.

This game takes you into this magical fantasy world, and yet it felt eerily like seeing into the future/past or something like that. You had to not just save the world from the Shinra Corporation but you had to discover who you are, and what your history was. It's just like being in a film. The game is huge, you can do absolutely anything. The Characters were some of the best and coolest looking ever made - Cloud, Red XIII they were all classics, and then there’s Sephiroth this Super evil guy who’s super powerful and is deadly with his razor sharp Katana. You see how powerful he is compared to you near the beginning of the game and you think how the heck am I ever going to be able to beat that guy?! Oh and the Chocobos – they were a whole game in themselves. For those who don’t know – I never would have thought riding around on a giant chicken could be so much damn fun! The game has a strong fighting system, as well as a cool love story. It has happy moments, sad moment, and scary moments that have you on the edge of your seat. There are also the huge monsters referred to only as "Weapons" they just look the business, and look almost impossible to defeat - let alone by a guy with a sword.

The game is just so good on so many levels. The fact that it takes about 100 hours to complete - if you do all the side missions as well, was phenomenal value for money, especially as at the time on PS1 it had to be put onto 4 CD discs, which was very unusual. FF8 was also good; the story line was very nearly as good, so were the characters, but the style of FF7 was so unique, and cool. I can still remember all the areas you could visit in the game clearly like Cosmos Canyon and Junon Town. It really was a phenomenal game and I recommend it to anyone. As long as they have 100 hours or so spare, to dedicate to this epic game.

I really liked Squall in Final Fantasy 8. I think that Squaresoft did the best with this game. I liked all of the characters better than in FF7. Cait Sith sucks. I also liked the originality of Squall's wepon.

Ok Morpheus I see your point. But if the graphics were a little better I probroally would like that game too. The graphics were what hooked me into FFVIII. And as DJMuZack said...The originality of Squalls weapon was uniqe. If they remade FFVII with better graphics and lots of extras then the game would be one of my favorites but since they might not be doing that too soon FFVIII is still my top favorite. Yeah and FFIX was a childish character game but the summon movies are tight.

My favorite Final Fantasy game, ultimately favorite video game, is Final Fantasy X. Sadly, that PS2 game is extremely underrated. It is far from how bad critics said it is. Critics complained about the voice acting, overuse of FMV, lack of formal world map view, and the linearity. The main character Tidus is a very great swordsman. Yuna is my favorite Final Fantasy character. Final Fantasy X has a unique battle system, better for me than the previous Final Fantasy games. I like it being full 3D, and having no formal world map view. I listen to the Final Fantasy X OST almost everyday and everywhere I go. The game takes place in the world called Spira. I really like the English voice acting. Hedy Burress and Tara Strong are great actresses. If Square Enix were to release an enhanced remake of Final Fantasy X, it would be based on Final Fantasy X International.

Final Fantasy X's Suteki Da Ne is my favorite video game song, especially the orchestrated version. It is the most beautiful song I ever heard in my life. Suteki Da Ne makes me happy and comfortable. It keeps my mind off of controversies and soothes my soul. I also made a karaoke CD+G out of Suteki Da Ne, using romaji lyrics.

Final Fantasy X-2 has also been extremely underrated. It has sold very well recently. According to the February 2004 issue of OPM, it is the best-selling PS2 game.

Im pretty confident in saying that you'd suggest every Final Fantasy game undertated.

As for my fave, dont hate me for this but I have never really been able to catch on to the craze. It's not about disliking FF or anything but more about never being able to get interested in RPG's. However I did rent FF7 a few years ago and played it about 2 minutes so I'd have to say thats my favorite.

Well if you remember back then FF7's graphics were absolutely top notch. Official UK Playstation Magazine gave the games graphics 10/10 (I think around Christmas 97') - which was a long time ago. Okay yes, if you jugde the game by todays standards, or even to its succesor FF8, then games graphics arn't amazing, but I really liked the graphics. Oh and you really cant call the cut-scenes bad. They were and still are some of the best I've ever seen in any game.

Yes I also liked squalls gun-blade. That was a cool idea, but Clouds sword was also good. The buster sword is well known, just like Lara Crofts Chest, or Solid Snakes Bandana. They were all cool accessories for games characters.

I agree Morpheus They should make a FFVII-2. I've heard rumors of this in magazines but no facts.

By the way... Have any of you played a game called Legend of Dragoon?

I personally prefer posts with substance rather than short flimsy replies, but anything over 500 words (Tedius Zanarukando) is probably too much, unless its really interesting.

His post was fine, better than most of us do. Like morpheous said substance is important. Theres nothing wrong with a long though out reply. When he introduced himself though...I believe that was going a little overboard, not necessarily the fact that it was long but that it was a long frigging look into his world.

I'll make this into a poll. Just to get a better idea of who likes what. Only post if you wanna tell us why that particular Final Fantasy was your favourite. Hmm I could'nt add all the Final Fantasys it wouldnt let me. The ones I had to leave out were:

Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest - SNES
    Final Fantasy Anthology - PlayStation
    Final Fantasy Chronicles - PlayStation
    Final Fantasy Origins - PlayStation
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance - Game Boy Advance

I've played most of the FF games but I only finished VII, IX, and X. VII is by far the best.

yup i agree with you there, X was way way underrated, and anyway how did it overuse FMV's? defiantly my fav, X-2 was good, not as good as X but it was still very good.

About the graphics for ff7, it has some of the BEST graphics of its time. I got the game on 2000. Even then i was astounded by the FMV and the large amount of gameplay on a flimsy ps1.
Morpheus, i dunno bout the UK (i live in US) but here it was 3 disks, u might be getting confused with ff8 cuz it had 4.
My fave.......a choice between ff7 and ff8. FF8, the sidequests in ff8 wer far more numerous and the card game was fun. Grar, i cant beat that damned queen of Cards. I have 2 use he frikken random rule. why cant ya just play with open and the original 1s in beggining.

FF3 was awsome, i played at friend's. The story line was fantastic. Only problem graphics and features sucked cuz it was on NES. If they remade it onto the ps2 or ps3 id be dancing on 1 leg lol.

And you forgot about FF chrystal cronicles for gamecube.
FF9 was crappy. i played it for about 30 mins in beggining at friends, the chars were soooooo cartoonish. the wizard dude was from ff3 or ff2 i forget though.

I hated ffx-2, and ffx i ddnt like either, the grid thing was so frikken messed up. But compared 2 other rpg's..... i give of those (out of 5).

    Has any1 played Dark Cloud?

id have to say FFVII is the best out of all because of the story line and characters... it has the best characters like cloud, sephiroth, barret, vincent, cid etc. if only they continued the same characters of FFVII on to FFVIII and so on, that'll be great

thats the downfall in FFVII its graphics are like square blocks... in game play the peoples hands are cubes but in the movie scenes... u know those kinda movie plays... the graphics there is just unbelievable for ps1.

Especially for ff8, thats is one of the reasons it killed off every other rpg for ps1.

My best Final Fantasy games are FF 7, FF 8, & FF X which was so superbly crafted it was made rpg game of the year

btw FF X was built on the foundations of FF 8

Now that I'v played and finished FF7 & FF 8 I tend to miss them so much

But story wise I think FF 7 was the best in that
