In an apt development following our earlier Revolution release-date roundup, Nintendo pres Satoru Iwata has confirmed that the system will be coming out sometime after March (the end of Nintendo’s current fiscal year), but still within the confines of the 2006 calendar year.
In a more strongly worded statement, Iwata made a distinctly more judgmental estimation regarding the company’s sales expectations for the Rev: “It [the Revolution] would be a complete failure if we didn’t sell more units than the Nintendo GameCube.” The GameCube has shipped 18.76 million units as of June of this year.
A “simultaneous worldwide release” will also be attempted (”as much as it’s possible”), following in the footsteps of Microsoft’s nearly simultaneous 360 launch window this fall

I doubt that the REV will faile they would probably sell twice the # the GameCube sold and Im Real Positive that it will sell that much.

I doubt it will fail. It sounds like it will be cheap, innovative (well, it is) and you still can play normal games too.

the fact that the reevolution can download a back catalogue of old nintendo games is definately going to be the main selling point.
Nintendo will definately sell more with the reolution, although the only factor would be the controller which is a big fat
cause i have no idea how the public will react.

I really don't know. I mean if they don't sell more then last time then that would be a failer then. so I guess the goal should be like 25 million sold or something.

but the majority of sales for nintendo is in Japan isnt it and Xbox spanked then in the North American market i think Nintendo will do very well world wide this time around i will buy one just for the novelty of NES games it will not be the main system but i am sure between the Back Catalog and some new Rev games i think it would get some serious time wasted on it (a good thing, well somethimes lol)

o.O... for one, its not 'only classics' that will be on the Rev... >_>
We will see plenty of great new games on the Rev...
In my mind, a console with such an interesting new controller, deserves my money. =P
But, $200-250... Dont exagerate! =P Nintendo has never gone over $200 with their consoles. and the continueing rumor about the price is $150-200. =P
Nintendo has stated that it is their goal to mak it cheap too!
Its not like they take losses on their hardware either... The gameboy micro costs only $44 to produce! and they sell for $99
Somehow Nintendo is great at making hardware decently cheap, and still make a profit, and ALSO give us quality! Thats pretty amazing! lol"The next generation of video gaming starts when the PS3 hits store shelves."

I think the Revoluton will sell around 20-25 million units.

I could see the Rev selling more units if they revamped some of the classics. Chrono Trigger for instance. Make that over with full 3D but keep everything the same, and you have a system seller right there.

Yes, it would... but Square-Enix have been real arses about remakes of CT...
Some of you might remember CT: Ressurection
http://www.opcoder.com/projects/chrono/
Watch that Trailer... it simply brings a tear to my eyes, to see that this can never be released... Warning: if you love CT, you may cry after watching that... lol Its so amazing... so professional...
Although... >=3 I happen to know a guy, that knows the guys that made it, and if I begged, I could probably still play it, just on their computer... they can't legally give it to me. XD
It was only a 10 most famous scene remake, not the full game... it was fully 3D and playable... simple amazing... its just... there are no words to describe how amazing it was, the perfect remake! BTW, the music is from the old game, but they remade it all 'by hand', along with the art and graphics engine.
Square could have used it to their advantage... but they made the wrong choice... and I've continued to boycott them ever since... lol
Anyway, thats kind of off topic... but... its something we shouldn't forget about... i needed to post it... lol we should start a descussion about CT:R somewhere in these forums! ^_~"The next generation of video gaming starts when the PS3 hits store shelves."
