Virtua Tennis 3 issues

I've noticed that during "big" games in career mode, the game will Freeze on me and for a short period of time, the PSP is non-responsive... When i attempt to turn the system off, nothing happens, and after a brief wait, the PSP will shut off and i am forced to reboot the game....

This only seems to occur to me whilst playing Virtua Tennis 3...Any ideas what the cause may be?
