Actually, can you blame Microsoft for doing this? I'd choose the normal Xbox instead of Wii anyday. Really, have you seen a Wii game with even decent graphics in compare to the first Xbox? I haven't.
And I like the xbox controller 73.186x more than Wii's one.
So... can you blame microsoft for making this statement?

LOL! What Gamecube games were YOU looking at? Resident Evil 0, remake and RE4 were the crown jewels for the Gamecube. I played MANY titles and none were better or worse then Xbox or PS2 for that matter. Who cares if the Wii is underpowered next to the Xbox? Should it really matter anymore?

Well, yeah. I mean, they're lying, and I generally blame people for that.
I have.I'd choose the normal Xbox instead of Wii anyday. Really, have you seen a Wii game with even decent graphics in compare to the first Xbox? I haven't.
That's nice for you, I guess. Baby duck syndrome FTW!And I like the xbox controller 73.186x more than Wii's one.
Yes. It's just plain false, and they know it.So... can you blame microsoft for making this statement?

I doubt that 1st party games would keep the PS3 going for long. You have to remember that it was the massive 3rd party support that allowed PS2 to win the last generation, and I can't see that being any different this gen.
The biggest problem I can see for Sony is that the PS3 sales are currently way under what they are expecting, so their 1st party games will also not sell as well. So when the hardware is losing money, the software is losing money, and the 3rd party licences are drying up, where does that leave them? At this rate Sony will be hard pushed to break even this gen.

Well, you probably meant that rhetorically, but:
In general, people are very bad at actually thinking through an argument. Most people will accept an argument that they like the conclusion of without close examination. Try this experiment:
1. Find some Democrats. Bitch about Michael Moore. Watch as they all explain that he's better than Rush Limbaugh.
2. Find some Republicans. Bitch about Rush Limbaugh. Watch as they all explain that he's better than Michael Moore.
People are, by default, fairly hypocritical; they will accept a lot of "quirks" in people they agree with, while quickly condemning the deceitful behavior of those they disagree with. Training yourself to notice when people you like are lying, and call them on it, is hard. Often, if you point out an error in an argument, people simply assume that you disagree with the conclusion. People will spend months arguing that someone isn't a real Republican, Christian, atheist, Muslim, Democrat, PS3 owner, or whatever else, rather than admitting that someone might just think a particular argument sucks.
Most large companies lie pretty much habitually, so far as I can tell. Nintendo's not exactly pure in this regard, although I think they are temporarily in a place where their marketing hype is purely about subjective claims anyway. You can dispute MS's use of their EDRAM bandwidth numbers as deceptive, or you can argue that Sony's presentation of how powerful Cell is doesn't match up to reality; what can you say about Nintendo's claim that they think their system is "very fun"?
A lot of the time, though, people will put up with a lie if it's useful to them. Politics, religion, music, consoles... It's all the same thing. People love to pick sides. Right now, the Wii's market success is clearly upsetting a lot of people, because it does pose a risk to the success of the other consoles, and thus in turn to their game libraries. Some people react by trying to promote anything bad they hear about the Wii, even if it's just plain dumb. A casual review of the specs suggests that the Wii is marginally buffer than the original xbox, even without taking into account the G3's technical superiority to a P3 clock-for-clock. (To get picky, the Wii's graphics hardware is less flexible, but it's almost certainly faster, especially if, as suggested, it's got 16-pass instead of 8-pass effects at no cost.)
