“We have taken a long hard look at what has made the Pro Evolution Soccer series so popular, and where we want to take it next,” commented Shingo ‘Seabass’ Takatsuka, creator of the series and Producer of PES 2008. “With the new Teamvision AI system, we truly believe that we have elevated the game to a new level. The movement of players off the ball, coupled with the total control given to the player, creates the closest simulation of real football to date. We really hope everyone enjoys our evolution. I promise it will be worth the wait.”
PES 2008 will be released for PLAYSTATION®3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, PSP® (PlayStation®Portable), PC-DVD and Nintendo DS in Autumn.
Following the release of this fantastic news today, which was reported here on W.E.N.B. first we are hoping for some feedback from the community. Let us know what you think of these first images and possibly the change in the name.

PES 2008 Images & Features From Official Playstation Magazine

This months issue of OPM (Official Playstation Magazine) features some never seen before images of PES 2008 as well as unveiling some new features and additions to this years game. The images seem to be from the same build that was shown-off by Konami earlier in the month with the official announcement of the game. But new screenies are always a treat when it comes to WE/PES! Without further ado, here are those pics.
Some of the new features in the game look fantastic and definetly add to the realism eperience that has made this game such a cult hit with soccer fans. The article focuses on the PS3 version highlighting that it's a completely new game built from from the ground up. The new proprietary adaptive system or AI known as "TEAMVISION" is also mentioned and given the double thumbs up by the writer. The images also show the new shirt-pulling feature that has been talked about for a while. The W.E.N.B. team is curious as to how that is gonna look and feel like in-game!
"Out favourite improvements are two small things that we've been requesting for years. The first being the ability to decide which players attack and defend set-pieces.... You can also designate how many players (and which ones) stand in the wall on free-kicks". Another feature fans will be ecstatic to hear with is the remastered edit mode that is said to be "massive."
OPM claim to have an in-depth preview in the next issue. We will have all that info and more in as its released. Stay tuned with W.E.N.B. for all the latest WE/PES fans.

Whats key here is that the release date of August is practically confirmed, along with exciting news that Konami are working hard to obtain new licenses. Like Brian advises, we will be keeping a very close eye on the next gen fair on the 23 June, even if we expect some sort of news before then.
Regarding WE news at E3, its quite possible seeing as the show is in July with Konami having their own hour long conference there. So keep July 11th 5.45-6.45pm penciled in your dairy just in case.

First with the demonstration which wins 11 the journalist of famitsu of the video game of present yesterday PS3 and Wii. Today you verified these news in me by famitsu. Those are the following edition of release information concerning the game and image. The PS3 game without the audio part presently is 19.2GB BDROM. JON KABIRA completed the sound recording for April criticism. Control mechanism of the next physics which for the player is new and is improved. SONY the game (210,000,000 Yen) helps financing."
The post suggests that Japanese game magazine FAMITSU has information and screen shots of the PS3 and Wii versions of the game. Interestingly the post claims the game is currently 19.2GB without audio (PS3 version we imagine), whereas previous articles had all suggested a total of 18GB. The real crucial point is regarding Sony helping to finance the game with an estimated 210 Million Yen (Approx $2 Million). Knowing the relationship that Konami and Sony share this isn't so shocking, however, what would this mean with regards to exclusivity and comparison to the Xbox 360 version. Although the jury is still out on this point, reports suggest that the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will have different engines.

Well, let's face it, it won't be hard to better the 360 version will it, it's crap, put plainly.
I just traded the 360 version of pes6 in last weekend, back for the ps2 version (since the 1.7 update fixed the bc, sort of!) which is much better.
I can't wait for PES7, I just hope it will be worth waiting for, it usually is.

Konami will not let PS3 users down like they did the Xbox 360 ones!
When it comes to this Pro Evo they are prefectionists! It will be absolutely superb and the first true next gen version of Pro Evo!
I cant wait and I kinda hope they have sorted out the pitch textures and maybe added a few licences! (not holding my breath)
As far as gameplay goes anything they add will be much appreciated although with the power of the PS3 the AI will see a massive improvement!
Anyone who has seen the Comparicon video of NBA for the pS2 and the PS3 will know what I mean!
Instead of running in lines the players should almost have 360 degree movement with endless animations!
As you can tell I cant wait for this one!

Isn't Sony one of the sponsors of FIFA? I thought it was hilarious that they had to put a Sony ad board into one of the 360 stadiums because it was in the stadium in real life.

Considering how many people I know who just buy consoles for sports games only, This will be a hugo mungo blow to the 360 if the PS3 version is really 3 times bigger and better, which I believe will be.
Can't wait.

Bu-Ray ftw!! Whenever there aren't any good games around and i am bored, I can always rely on Pro Evolution Soccer, the best sports series ever.

hhmmm... if you look in the uk version of the OPM, it says the "beautiful game is coming" at the end of the magazine. Could this maybe refer to an exclusive look into FIFA...?
-
05-18-2007 #22
That's very good news if true, PES is going to kick ass when it comes out, whether it's FIFA's ass or 360's ass, it doesn't matter, it'll kick both, and Hard...
-
05-18-2007 #23
I've heard the PS3 version will be superior to the rest (including the 360 version) due to blu-ray. Anyone know the specific content we'll be getting?

In one word..... NO
In more, certainly not, FIFA cant be described as the beutiful game, that is Pro evolution soccer, every reviewer score PES higher!
I have been buying since ISS and just cant wait for this game!
And about the Premier League Licence, Ill believe it when I see it! That would still lack the Spanish license however!
As long as game play is next gen ill be more than happy!
