This isn't exactly a PS3 news but, since it will affect market and gamers (not to say sell stats) I'm writing it here to try to find what's likely to happen.

news: Microsoft just banned every modded XBox360 on live!

Now "the market" has a certain number of "offline only" XBox360, and a certain number of Live! gold owners that cannot play online anymore.
Since ban is per console and doesn't affect accounts (that aren't disabled, you just need to "move" to another XBox360) a certain percentage of people will go buy another XBox360 (probably a Core version) and move on.
This will probably boost XBox360 sales and start a gray (as "eBay") market for "offline only" XBox360.

The whole story comes to a point: XBox360 sales are going to "boost" a little, but for "different" reasons.
This will probably hit XBL revenues aswell since some XBox360 pirate will probably cancel his subscription.

Next NPD stats will probably show a spike in XBox360 sales (and everyone here seems to be really interested in sales) so this DOES matter PS3 aswell.
