http://www.gamesradar.com/us/ps3/gam...14115917309058By choosing to release a game over multiple platforms, developers are forced to make compromises on quality, GamesRadar has been told by Mathieu Ferland, senior producer for Splinter Cell: Conviction, Sam Fisher's fifth spy adventure and an exclusive for Xbox 360 and PC.
"Developing a game for multiple consoles is not so difficult but it requires certain compromises, usually quality compromises" explains Ferland. Previously, not wanting to compromise too much, Ubisoft has taken the expensive route of employing different teams for different platforms, in order to "invest" fully in the strengths of each console. "If such investment is not done," Ferland tells us, "every feature unique to a console will not be used and a game will generally end up with a 'lower quality.'"
"Not having to worry about other consoles for development is an important benefit," Ferland continues, "Because you can simply focus and develop following a technical design that fits perfectly with the console. For all these reasons, we’ll end up with better performances ... [and it allows] content that would most likely not make it into the game if development was also done for other consoles."
Do they get it?crappy ports do not sale.I think that is why they went the way with Haze

Wow, not like every single console gamer would have been saying this for years.

If this is a sign of more games going to be only on one platform in the future, then I'm happy. I hate multiplatform, although I love some games that are multiplatform.Working on a new sig...

Thats a great route to go. Create certain groups for the certain consoles, and take advantage of all you can.
But I think they should have a porting team, cause down the road when the PS3 starts gaining mass market appeal and a more install base then they'll want to port their games over that were exclusive to the 360 and even vice versa.

Ubisoft made my favorite PC games... I love Battle Realms, but this... This is the best idea I have ever heard from a game developer. I think this should be the rule for all games developers, and with this going into action, we will finally see who [game consoles] has the upper had. PS3... DUH!!!
Sony Bravia 32" XBR, (2) 60GB PS3 with 120GB Hard Drives, PSP-1000, PSP-2000, (6) Sixaxis Controller, PS Remote, PS Eye, PS3 HDMI, (2) Bluetooth Headsets, MGS4, GTA4, GT5P, Orange Box, Assasin Creed, Warhawk, Resistance, Haze, Heavonly Sword, Linux Fedora Core 6, fl0w, Mortal Kombat II, Spyro, Suduko, Tekken 5, Echochrome

Its been like this forever... Duh. If you look over th article and take a step back. The dev is acctually selling his studio, "takes the right approach" and wont suffer from the quality loss which he stated.
Its obvious to me to rent Vegas before i purchase it, just from this snippit. its fishy. I dont like multi-plats to begin with, so seeing vegas in action b4 purchasing is def worhtwhile.

loudninja you news hunter! thanks a lot this is really good news and im glad they are finally seeing things for how they should be. it does suck though because a more "compromised" game across many playforms will make more money than a "full potential" game for one platform.....but i dont want that.
good news for al of us but i still REALLY wish they had'nt made assassin's creed MPyou game? http://www.ps3forums.com/showthread.php?t=55990
