That is a lot better than most of the advertising MS does, but I personally prefer the Japanese Xbox360 commercials so far.

I just don't get it...I know having a vauge market motto is suppose to increase 360 awarness...I'd just rather prefer seeing the console in action. Not some kids doing jump rope, and not some kids throwing water balloons.

Is it the same team that do the Nike commercials doing these, they're quite alike ?
They should have a load of friends sitting round playing the ps1the idea behind the marketing is to spark memories of your childhood when you played with friends and give off the feeling that your missing out on the fun
joke.
The adverts are alright but they should have subconcious Xbox symbols running through it, like on the kids t shirts or chalked on the walls.

It's part of this "always connected" feeling M$ is trying to get across. It starts as a small balloon fight and then erupts into a huge one. It also reminds me of Xbox Live. I like at better than the other ones at least.

THe commercials are not that bad but as travisbickle the need to remind the viewers that they are watching an xbox 360 commercial. Not just showing that they are watching an xbox 360 commercial at the end of it. Someone people don't like commercials that much to stick around to watch an entire commercial from start to finish, without changing the channel.
IF you are selling something and you are advertising it, you better put what that product is about in first 5-10 seconds of the advertisement. Or else people have the tendence to lose interest quickly in what you are trying to sell.
Microsoft needs to Learn that. Looking at the two commercials so far that they had release, you would not have even known that it was an xbox 360 commercial until the end.

Alright, you guys explained the meaning of them but like Nightstriker said, there just feels like a lack to the commercials. I mean how many of you guys are sitting around your TV and anylyzing kids jump roping and throwing water baloons when it happens.
I want a commercial to PSYCH ME UP! Not make me just turn the channel.
It's not eye candy to sum up what i'm saying."It's real hard to be free when you are bought and sold in the marketplace.

Well the general conensus is that people already know what an Xbox is.. and when they see Xbox 360 they can guess. The press has been covering the system for months now.
We don't analyze it because we're hardcore gamers. These commercials are just not for us and i suppose its hard for some of us to understand who these commercials are targeted for.
The commercial isn't advertising what the system can do, its more like a portal or gateway to let the viewer find information for him/herself. In stores you'll find out all the info you need when you go there, or magazines or websites.
It's all about sparking interest.

I have to say that i didnt like those commercials because it takes to long before you are aware that its a gameconsole its about. The first rope commercial was good if you wanted to sell shoes and the second are to childish and long. I get the message that it wants to bring all types of gamers together to have fun no matter race, interest or ages but it takes to long before you see what the commercials are about. You got to speed stuff up and at least show some clues in the beginning to get the "hype"(people intersts going)! I think most people will lose interst and just switch channels before the commercials are over. If only they would show a tiny bit of gameplay footage in between to get people pumped up. Its to slow and it doesnt scream "must have product"!
They should also show the console itself for a second or so in the middle of the commercial, not just the logo at the end.Favourite games of all time regardless of Console :
1. Diablo 2. PC
2. Zelda Ocarina Of Time. Nintendo 64
3. Final Fantasy VII. Sony PlayStation
4. Ninja Gaiden. Microsoft XBox
5. Resident Evil (Remake). Nintendo GameCube
6. CastleVania Dawn Of Sorrow. Nintendo DS
7. Super Punchout. Super Nintendo
8. Killer Instinct. Super Nintendo
9. Galaga. Commodore 64
10. Tetris. Nintendo GameBoy

Yeah i mean to be honest the XBOX has around 20 million fans somewhere right? So in order to compete with Sony more people will have to jump on the 360 bandwagon.
If you look at all those toy commercials they draw kids in and make their parents get them that toy. They also incorporate loud noices, flashing colors, and blowing stuff up.
I'm 18 and i still am amused by those commercial factors. MS ,again in my opinion, is not going the right way with their marketing. You shoud start showing lights, noise, and explosions. Get these kids and teens psyched of for the "nex-generation"

See? If anything stop the 360 commericials and start making Game commericials. Usually it's the game commercials you see on TV not the console commercials.

The first commercials should show the console the first few seconds(since its new) and then move on to some heavy gameplay footage exploding all over with some cool music. They know its mostly hardcore gamers that are gonna buy this console in the beginning anyway and its this kinda stuff that makes us tick.
Later on it would be alright with these kinda commercials for the average Joe!(altough a little shorter with gameplay footage early to keep the gamer curious through the entire commercial)
Il be extremely dissapointed if they dont show gameplay footage commercials of Kameo, PGR3, PDZ and Condemned soon. I know if they show the right sequences from those games it will sell consoles for sure.Favourite games of all time regardless of Console :

THats the thing, as Coola said, these are not targetted at any of us.
With the original Xbox, MS focused on advertising the power of the system and stuff like that. That has great appeal for the hardcore gamer, but as much as these bore some of us, those bore 90% of normal people.
MS and 3rd Parties will have Game advertisements, but these commercials are all about brand building and brand awareness.
The last thing MS wants to do is have all their commercials have games like COD2 and DOA4 in them. This will cause a large portion of the population to just tune them out, again.
The hardcore already know about the system. Most of the hardcore own the original Xbox and are already what is classified as "Xbox 360 Intenders". Meaning, they intend to buy an Xbox360 and are already in the bag.
MS needs to expand their audience. As odd as it may seem, these commercials are actually a huge step in the right direction.
Ya see, these commercials aren't really like anything else out there right now. People will see these and go "wtf?". They will stare at it, then at the end see the "jump in" phrase and the Xbox360 logo. A couple weeks from now, MS can expand these commercials and start showing off some of the community aspects of the system, that would go great with what they are showing so far in their commercials.
They can build this into a message of customizability. Show how you can play all the Zone like games, chat with your friends and family, or play the games that everyone is familiar with today. This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. Hmmm, maybe youre right. At least they are making people curious with these commercials, because they dont look like those you are used to see. I was just thinking about the lenght of the last one before you actually saw what it was all about. At least these commercials are original, i have to admit that, i dont think they are plain bad
I liked the first one(rope) a little better because it was shorter, had cool music, but could pass for a shoe commercial except when you see the logo at the end.
I think the rope commercial was aimed at young adults(teenagers) and the balloon one was aimed at children. Guess the next one are gonna be about grown ups(older people) so they have made clear that they are aiming for all ages also.
They already made it clear its for all types of races and interests!Favourite games of all time regardless of Console :

You're all being a bit harsh. it's a teaser ad. people will see it and want to find out more about the system, and before they know it they're playing it.
Another interesting tidbit, is that this is a very European ad. In north America most ads concentrate on the systems power, like that Atari J64 ad with the chip. in Asia ads focus on actual game play. In Europe it often shows something that has nothing to do with game play with the logo at the end.

Hahaha! I thought that was pretty funny. I used to love waterballoon fights. I think their jumprope one is awesome too. Only problem is it doesn't really advertise the 360. Sweet little clips though!
