Ok....who here believes there is life in the universe other than in Earth? I do. Just imagine how huge the universe is. It never ends (But how do we know this?). So we're this little dot in the middle of nowhere. don't think there might be other form of life somewhere else in the universe? On the other side trillions and gazillions of miles away? We can't just be the only ones in the universe. There might be "other" kinds of "human" that probably wonder the same. They probably want to know if there is other living organisms. Or maybe they have already discovered us??? If you think there is life, how do you think they're living? Better technology? Or maybe a planet full of insects? lol.

I'll just present to you the logic my science teacher brought up- there are more galaxies then there are grains of sand on this planet. Mathematically speaking, it'd be downright crazy NOT to believe that there aren't any intelligent lifeforms out there.
HOWEVER
I don't believe any such beings have visited us here on our planet.
-

Exactly dude. There are trillions of other gallaxies. Just imagine how many other living organisms there are. lol. Why don't you believe no body has visited us? Do you believe in Area 51? Supposedly there have been UFO's and aliens landing there. And what about those documentaries on UFO's. With weird lights and soundless aircraft hovering above then traveling faster than a boeing with no sound??? I don't know.

I believe there is life definately. Intelligent\sentient life? Dunno, we have yet to see any kind of radio waves or tranmissions pinging off randomly in space (SETI program has yet to find any).
But sure! Even in this solar system I'd wager (Especially caverns of Mars or Europa). Though it may be aquatic or bacterial life.
Odds are, we'll probably never know of any intelligent life outside our solar system. Atleast not in our lifetime.
But my answer was overwhemlingly "Yes".
Our definition of Life is kind of problematic .Having only been exposed to "Earth's" version of life we have no idea if there are other "Definitions" of life. We can't even begin to speculate really.

Lifeforms yes, intelligent lifeforms no.
We're a result of chance/luck. Unique.
Don't bother discussing with anyone who know better by running through infinite possibilities, and simply base their conclusion on that. Ignore the UFO/alien archetypes altogether.

Some say chance, some say design, either way, I agree, I believe we're rather unique.

You have to be really ignorant if you think there is nothing else in the entire universe. We learned about this in school and most people don't understand how vast the universe is and how many trillions of lightyears (1 lightyear=the distance light travels in a year = 300,000 KM/Sec) accross and how much we will most likely never see. We (NASA) have also just recently found a new planet that has the possibility of supporting life!

Yeah i believe it. Although i dont believe they take the form we all see in the media, you know, the big bug eyes, grey skin, big heads (god they scare me)
We are so insignificant in regards the to ENDLESS trillions of galaxies (god its so hard to comprehend that we're so small) that it's a bit naive to believe we're the only thing in all that room.

Oh... Wow...
Oh.... Wow.
Just... Wow.
I have the approximate size of our galaxy memorized by heart (hard not to when it's THIS simple
It's 100,000 light years by 10,000 light years.
Don't spread BS. And try to get your clueless science teacher laid-off
.
What about it? They most likely exist as a parallel Universe to ours. So, within a small divergence, the same you, me, and him will exist in the other universe. Does that count as "extra-terrestrial" if they are still terrestrial within their own respective universe?

Of all those galaxies, stars, planets "god" only creates life on this little planet? Why create all that space and matery just for one planet? Why not create only this solar system? We are not unique, and anyone who thinks that have my symphaty. It would be pretty boring and meaningless universe if this is only planet with life...

No such thing as parallel universes, except in Star Trek.

I just can't see how there isn't other life forms outside of earth. You look up to the stars and what we can see with our eyes isn't even everything out there. With the gazilions of similar solar systems how could there NOT be a similar environment to Earth. OR an even better environment that is much older and more advanced with better resources...

well i think there other life forms there probably ten billions times smarter than us and we are probably considered dumb to them like how we consider monkey's.
and THE ONE right that is the estimated diameter of our universe they found that out useing redshift by looking at the oldest things in the universe to long for me to explain but i just learned it in science a week or 2 ago.

Oh my goodness... Don't tell me, another 14 year old trying to be a wannabe cosmologist
.
Know how to reason. Parallel universes may well exist. Why not back up your "claim" with some actual "reasoning"?
No, it cannot be proven short of "jumping" from one universe to another, but neither can the contrary be proven.
Out of everyone on this forum, I'm probably one of the most read-up on cosmology. The fact of the matter is, cosmological and quantum physical observations have shown that parallel universes is not just a science fiction idea. It may in fact be true.
Oh, and if one more person pulls up some article from Wikipedia as proof, I'm going to have to hit someone... WIKIPEDIA IS NOT PROOF!I am a moron. Do not argue with me because I will drag you down to my level and win with experience

There is a theory about that.
The theory goes: There are many many universes, in small "Bubbles" or "Spheres". Each of these Universes is intrinsically similar and dissimilar to the universe we're in, and to each other.
For instance, One day I decided to flip a coin. Heads I go to the movies, Tails I go to the pool.
Universe "A": Heads, I go to the movies----> Life goes on through this "Branch"
Universe "B": Tails, I go to the pool -----> Life goes on through this "Branch"
Simple changes and differances that tally up to a completely differant, yet similar, universe.
Alternate realities one might say.
Parrallel universes ARE all in theory, so lets not rule it out of the realm of possibilities here gentleman (And ladies?).
But its somthing we can never taste, touch, smell or feel. So it can never be "100%" proven.
Frankly the fact that our universe is "Infinite" and "Ever expanding" boggles my mind. Its hard to imagine somthing infininite.Period. Age, size whatever.
Though our constant expansion is beginning to puzzle some scientists. They believe that we should (at this point in time) cease expanding, and slowly begin to contract (leading up to another "Bang"). But we're not doing so, thusly we're proving to be a problem for the "Infinite Universe through multiple Bangs" Theory.
It would seem, our universe has an age. Interesting thought. I find space and everything held within amazing (Excluding us, I find earth rather boring). Its entirely composed of extremes.
Millions upon millions of miles apart, Stars thousands of time bigger then the earth, temperatures that can incinerate steel in seconds, Dead Stars thats gravitation well is so massive it can trap light and warp time...Amazing.

I know, we've all read/heard about parallel universes, quantum theory, string theory and whatnot (I assume). My belief, contrary to anyone (even scientists or wiki entries), is that a parallel universe is nothing more but a humorous fabrication of the mind (it would be the/my ultimate contradiction, if true). There's a thing called logical reasoning, which is losely based on 'first impressions'. It doesn't require an explanation the size of a bible to backup my opinion.
But let me correct my earlier statement, there might be lifeforms intelligent or not, but the chances that they have evolved into 'people' similar to us are rhetorically null.
Ps. who care about theoretical numbers on how big the universe is.
Ps2. there are other sites (with brighter minds than here) created for purpose of discussing creation/evolution topics.Impressed by: GTA:IV, Aquaria, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Far Cry 2, Dark Void, Assassin's Creed, Hydrophobia, Infinity: Quest for Earth, Alan Wake, Little Big Planet, Subversion, Aliens: Colonial Marines, id Tech 5, Euphoria Technology, Ageia PhysX.
