    DiRT or Forza 2?

Well, I want to get another 360 game when I get back home later this week, and can't decide between DiRT and Forza. Which is a better buy and why? I like both on and off-road racers, and will eventually get both, but only have the money for one atm.

FORZA! FORZA! FORZA! FORZA! FORZA! No matter how much better DiRT looks(even though the bloom ruins it) the game controls so bad. It's like a wannabe ForzaStorm or some dumb looking hybrid game. OH GOD ITS BAD! Travis Pastrana's dumb voice as you go through every menu PLEASE STAY CLEAR!

Well I'd think twice about FM2, the freezing issues and in turn save corruption is running rampant at the moment with no comment from M$ or T10.. T10 is actually going as far as banning posters on the official forum who post while they're "working" on a fix. I was playing FM2 a lot but now I cannot as I'm having the same issues as MANY others. If they get things under control maybe I'd consider FM2 but at this point don't waste your money.

lol actually DiRT has gotten some great reviews and IMO is a much more welcoming title.. While FM2 has been dumbed down a bit it's still a bit more then the casual arcade racer wants or needs..

I'd go for Forza, DiRT was a massive let down from the demo, it just doesn't feel right.

Forza is a much more complete experience, though DiRT may appeal more to the less hardcore racers.

As for the bug/glitch that Nekon talks of, I have no idea, I hadn't even heard of it until he posted, and if Forza 2 has been dumbed down a bit, what do you call the mutilation of Colin McRae?

Good question John Davison said theres a real hardcore difficulty mode that feels more like the old game but I still think the handling model is garbage. Even games like Motorstorm eclipse it, Motorstorm's handling model along with Forza and even GTHD is amazing.

Forza 2 by a mile. It might not have as much dirt , but it has so many awesome customization options and a strong online. Forza 2 for sure.

Forza 2 - and that's coming from someone who has loved the previous Colin McRae rally games. Forza 2 though is just excellent, although I was unaware of the problem mentioned by Nekon - I need to go to their site and take a look at that.

I don't have the wifi adaptor yet, so I can't connect to the internet with my 360. My console is in the basement while my modem is on the second floor.

Well, I think I'll go with Forza then, as that's the almost unanimous choice. But what's bad about DiRT's handling? IGN mentioned that it felt you were turning on the center, but wasn't quite sure what they meant by that. Is it that the car just rotates rather than turns?

The problem I found with the handling on DiRT was the fact the car didn't drift.

If you watch the WRC, you see that the cars will take a corner in one sweeping drift, because its efficient to drive offroad like that. On DiRT, the car gets traction as soon as you initiate the drift, which means as opposed to sweeping the whole corner, you grab the traction before you are round the corner, and generally start accelerating into the middle of the hairpin, which is irritating, because it happens in general when you just initiated a superb drift round the corner. It also, for me, makes it less enjoyable, part of my enjoyment of rallying is the fact that its so on edge. DiRT doesn't give me that feeling.

Such was my experience on the Mitsubishi on the demo.

Truer words have not been spoken in this thread.

Both games are pretty much trash, DiRT is the need for speed of the rally world and Forza 2 just sucks(which really hurt me, Forza 1 was a great title)

I will put this plain and simple:

Forza Motorsport 2 is the most enjoyable racing game I have ever played, and that includes old classics like Formula 1, Stunt and Death Track and way better than PGr3 regardless of what some opinions you might read here (and mostly here, since the game has 90% overall in ratings)

Unfortunately, I haven't tried the full versio of Dirt yet, but other than visuals, there is a very high bar to match there.

    Update:

I've just played Dirt yesterday. It's a good game, it's fun and looks good. However, there's really no competition between those. I'd chose FM2 any day of the week.
Yup I'm Back. If you wonder, read this. =)
"Fake Effects"? Read This. Move on. I'm not interested. Thank you
