    Sony HDTV+PS3 Combo?

What are the chances, if any, that Sony will offer one of their HDTV's with their next-gen console through their retailers? I'm in Canada, so the two stores I might have a look in are FutureShop, and Best Buy (which are just starting to open stores up here).
I know XBOX had an RCA brand T.V(s) that was XBOX 'READY', my landlord has a 27" upstairs. I have no idea what the tv has that makes it more compatible. But that is what got me thinking about the possibility that Sony may have a WEGA HDTV for use with the PS3. Has anyone heard anything on this subject?
My parents are NOT buying my PS3 for me. They also do NOT pay my rent, my car payment, or my insurance. They don't pay other small bills for my cell phone, PC, or other goods I've purchased. The next kid who lives at home, for FREE, and works part-time, that says it's 'easy' to save the money for the PS3 can kiss the empty wallet that's against my ***.

I highly doubt they are going to make a TV that is only for the PS3. The retailers may package TV's and Game Consoles together, but that has nothing to do with Sony.

Xbox Ready just means it probably had Component Inputs, its just a marketing gimmick to trick people into thinking the TV is something special.

I wasn't implying that Sony will make an HDTV specifically for the PS3, but rather inquiring on whether or not they may offer a package deal. I think Microsoft had more to do with an "RCA XBOX ready" t.v than you'd think. RCA would have to buy the rights to print 'XBOX READY' on their t.v from Microsoft. And Microsoft would want some cash from RCA if they intended to use that as a marketing gimmick.
Besides, as far as I know, Microsoft doesn't make their own tv's. Sony does. That should give them more of an incentive to bundle their products together. In my opinion.

Microsoft has corporate links to RCA/Thomsen, that's why you saw an XBox-Ready TV.

Sony could offer a package deal, but I highly doubt it. If you see a PS3/HDTV package, it will most likely be put together by BestBuy/Futureshop, and not Sony.

I sure sony would tell us what tv is best for the ps3. I think that would help the most.

It would be nice if Sony made deals with resellers so you could buy a package with PlayStation 3 and a HDTV and save $200 or something :P. They wouldn't lose that much I think |-)

Alright GTurismo, I see you're point. How soon then, after an official release date, will the retailers offer package deals?
Cause that's all my home theatre needs right now, is a good HDTV, and of course a next-gen console.
I might try sending an email to FutureShop's and BestBuy's marketing divisions, to see what, if anything, they can tell me. I would imagine that all this kind of stuff would be ironed out months in advance...

They'll most likely offer package HDTV deals on launch day, just as they are doing now with the XBox360. I mean open your local BestBuy/Futureshop ad, you see lots of product placement with the 360.

    ie./
Buy a wireless router with your Xbox360
Buy an HDTV with your Xbox360
Buy a Home Theatre Stereo with your Xbox360
Don't give BestBuy and Futureshop that much credit. I've called them in concern to the 360 launch and the answers to the questions I gave were vague at best.

If your looking for a good HDTV, look for something with DLP, that does 720p, and have some kind of pixel wobble feature to resist burn-in. Plasma and LCD are nice, but highly expensive right now.

I'm hoping that after this holiday season the price of the new HDTV's goes down a little. Who knows, if the PS3 comes out late in '06, everything may be less expensive still.

I have done some research on HD's, I like the price of the rear projection DLP and LCD t.v's, though I still don't care for the lack of a viewing angle. I imagine a rear projection that was nearing the price range of a less expensive Plasma or LCD screen, would be a pretty good investment. I get down to the nitty-gritty when the time comes. I'm wasting my time if I go in the stores now, by the time I'm actually going to buy, there'll be something better out anyway.

The only problem you have to watch out for with LCD TV's are stuck or dead pixels. That is one of my major gripes about LCD. DLP Projection TV's have gotten much better with their viewing angles. Easiest way to find one you like? Go to the store and check them out. You will see which ones have the good viewing angles and which ones have the horrible ones.
