Here's how it goes:
"SPOnG reports that EA has sent them a letter detailing the next game in the Need for Speed franchise, titled Need For Speed: Most Wanted. The game will apparently be very similar to the Underground series, but this time around will include cops, and police chases, similar to those found in the previous games.
What's really interesting about this is that, according to SPOnG, EA has listed the following platforms for release: PS2, Gamecube, PC, Xbox, and Xbox 2. The game is slated for a simultaneous release on all platforms sometime between September and November 2005. Now, if SPOnG is correct, this could mean several things.
The console might be officially called Xbox 2
It will release this falll
It will have EA's full support. (which is kind of a given anyway)
However, the point of interest for me personally is the part that states that Burnout 4 will be a launch title for the Xbox 2. "
That does it !!
Wait a sec .... if those games come out on the Xbox, PS2 and the Xbox2 .... doesnt that mean the Xbox2 version will b very similar to the PS2 version.
I mean , didnt the Xbox2 boast about more power than anything !!

hmm i bet they started with the xbox2 version and then scaled it down for the other systems or just pumped up the quality on the xbox version. they are just trying to get a xbox2 launch title rolling. im sure they have other titles in the worx that are just for the xbox2. Ps3 will see ports once its released im sure.

An interesting article posted at NewsFactor.com which is another hint on the next xbox's release.
Microsoft has been extremely tight-lipped not only about the details of the next-generation Xbox game console, but also about the timing.
So it was more than a little surprising when Microsoft general counsel Brad Smith, addressing the Rotary Club of Seattle last week, said something that sure made it sound as if the next Xbox might be slated for release later this year.
Here's the full quote: "Certainly we're very excited about what we believe the year has to offer," Smith told the group.
"Technologically, our developers are focused on a number of products you'll see come to market, ranging from search technologies online and on your desktop to things you'll see as we get to the next holiday season with the next generation of Xbox and holiday devices."
Had it been a crowd of video-game enthusiasts, there might have been a collective gasp, or at least an interested murmur. But as you might have guessed, the Rotarians didn't seem to recognize the potential significance of the statement, at least judging by their lack of reaction.
Afterward, however, Smith said his words shouldn't be taken as conveying anything about the timing of the next Xbox, one way or the other. "I did not mean to imply anything about when it comes out," he said. "I was just talking about all the energy that's going into working on it."
Smith pointed out that any news along those lines would come not from the company's general counsel but from Xbox executives.
As it happens, one of those Xbox executives was slightly forthcoming on the subject in a discussion behind the scenes at the recent Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Peter Moore, an Xbox corporate vice president, didn't say when the next-generation game console would be announced or launched, or what it would be like.
But Moore did say that more details will be made public this year about the company's next-generation game console plans. "That's as specific as I'm going to get," he said.
Face it , Xbox is going to b all over this christmas season

Well some may be milky franchises, but if they did that, the launch wuldnt be as sucessful, so my guess is that they will have at least 5 or over, new games...

I know one. Halo 2.5, and that's about it. I think DMC4 too. Not sure which one it's gonna be for though.

01-20-2005 #16You're not even reading the posts, Mith. He said EA has 14+ titles in development [at least I think that's what he meant, since this is an EA thread], and he only knows of 2 [and he won't reveal them to us]. Neither Halo or DMC are made by EA.I know one. Halo 2.5, and that's about it. I think DMC4 too. Not sure which one it's gonna be for though.

Oh, by EA. I though you meant like all together. My bad. I was just in a hurry.
Maybe a basketball game and a football game. Am I correct? I doubt it but it was worth a guess."This life is not real. I conquered the world and it did not bring me satisfaction." -Muhammad Ali

Maybe Madden or something like that. And hopefully something that hasn't been milked to death and is actually innovative.

Not to slip off topic, but I really wouldn't expect to see "Halo 2.5" at launch.
You do realize that the fastest Bungie has ever completed a game was 2 years.
The only thing close to being faster than that was Halo. But it had 4 years of design before they basically had 9 months to rework it for the Xbox leading up to launch. This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. I'm hoping they'll create a new franchise with fresh ideas. Something more innovative, not stale and overused.
