More importantly, i don't see any video out jack, which hopefully means, video out is through the USB slot.

It says here what the extra memory is for:
http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/12/ad...s-load-faster/The redesigned PSP makes games load faster. But, how? In a private demonstration with Joystiq, John Koller explained that the new PSP includes more than just good looks. The redesigned system also includes more RAM, which is used to increase the load speed of upcoming PSP titles. In addition, the system has much more efficient battery life. Koller promised between 8 to 10 hours of battery life in the new system, a seeming impossibility when remembering the original design.
Sony seems to have left out alot of the "good stuff" about the new PSP, this little gem of a fact would have pleased alot of people all by itself...
Unfortunately not, its done through the redesigned headphone jack, seen here:More importantly, i don't see any video out jack, which hopefully means, video out is through the USB slot.

The new headphone jack (pictured, above) not only moves further to the left of the system, but utilizes a new pin system that allows for the system's video-out. Component or composite cables can be used for TV out, but Koller explains that PSP game output will only be component-compatible.

Yea, 1024x768 is near it's max resolution. I look at a lot of *cough* picture *cough* sites on my PSP, i havent noticed too much of a problem, the browser is actually better in the later firmwares. 3.30 +
As for more ram, i think they just found it cheaper to make 64mb instead of 32mb.

So how long before they start making PSP slim only games that use more ram?
and by the way PSP slim > ps2 when it comes to specs so why people keep saying it's not going to look good on a Tv?

this theoretically means that some homebrew enthusiasts could fully port halo 1 and 2 to the psp.
same amount of ram as xbox (and faster)
better CPU
worse GPU (but it only has to display it in 480x272, not 480p)
but the controls wouldnt work too well. sony really should have put the analog stick on the right side instead of the left. but then again they should have put 2 analog sticks.

I might update to a new PSP later next year if the prices drop. Which I bet the will. Christmas 2008 the PSP should be around $100-$130, maybe even sooner.

Chill man, Chill. All it really has is TV-out.
Killzone: Liberation on my PSP takes under 5 seconds to load, Tekken: DR takes about the same, youre not missing anything.
Sonic: Rivals on my PSP takes like 2 seconds to load.
Also, considering my PSP is hacked, if games lag, i just up the MHz. thus removing the need for more RAM.
There will never be PSP(Slim) only games.

Oh my God dude, you've got to be kidding. It looks almost the exact same!
I am a bit peeved that they didn't make the video out through USB, since that would work really well for existing members of the PSP community. I get 8-10 hours at least on my battery, so I can't say much bad stuff about that. When I flew from England to the States, I watched 3 movies, and played my PSP for an hour or so, plus played it in the airport for about an hour. I still had one bar left when I got to my hotel. It's freaking cool![SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I have postponed my PSP purchase due to the release of the new one.
Although im in two minds as to wheter its worth waiting for the new model.
Is the 64mb of ram worhty enough to wait for the new system as this feature is the only thing, to me that makes it worth buying one.

Re-read the quote.
It does not suggest that it improves the load time of current games whatsoever. The redesigned system also includes more RAM, which is used to increase the load speed of upcoming PSP titles.
Only upcoming PSP titles (which you will still be able to play on any PSP with a longer load time, not just the new Slim PSP).
All it really has is TV-Out, longer battery life, and a slim design...
I am curious to know if it will include any way to connect a Playstation controller, otherwise the TV-Out is nearly useless for games IMO.
They really should have included bluetooth.
At this point, yes it probably is worth the wait.
Slim design, longer battery, TV-out would be good for displaying pictures or movies on a friends TV atleast.
Even just the extended battery is well worth the wait (if you don't own a PSP already).
I'm not sure it is actually worth going and buying a replacement for an existing PSP if you own one though (as I have heard people mentioning recently).
Replacement batteries with longer life can be purchased as accessories for the old PSP, and the TV-out is not as precious as it sounds without the option of connecting a separate controller (preferably without more wires).
Slim alone is not worth spending that kind of money on something you already own, so I'm guessing I won't be waiting in line to pick one of these up or anything.

I'm torn between the two psp's now... More ram, video out, less weight, built in memory if I'm not mistaken, longer battery.... Lots of solutions to problems.
I got a psp when it was released last year in september, I got it as a birthday gift. (Sorta, I paid for about 65% of it and as a I was given money to pay for the other 35%). Back then it cost $415 for the value pack. If the new slim version is $240 or less then I'll get one.... on one condition. Some devices feel sooo much better when they are slimed down and redesigned. But somethings feel worse. If making it lighter and slimmer makes it feel more fragile and makes it less durable then I won't get one.I don't want a PS3 because I love Sony with a passion...
... I want a PS3 because I HATE Microsoft with a passion.
