Do you think we will ever see a PSP with a version of the cell chip in it?......with maybe an OLED HD panel and also a solid state hard drive

Well I bought a psp a month ago so I am glad they just made it smaller and lighter. If they brought out a new one in like two to three years then I wouldn't mind.

i would say, they will announce something revolutionary rather than evolutionary (like the PSP V2 is) around the same time that Microsoft announce the next version of the xbox, so in around 4 years time...
See top class photography from PS3F Members HERE!New signature hopefully coming soon so you don't have to look at decreasing text sizes...

I agree. The PSP "1" will last through this entire generation. It may slowly evolve, but it won't be a full blown second model, and won't have a mini CELL in it.
What current PSP may eventually evolve into:
-Internal storage
-Slot loading UMD drive
-Slight CPU clockspeed increase
or
-Additional CPU or chipset added that completely handles the operating system itself, leaving the original CPU left to focus on games etc.
-More efficient LCD screen, or perhaps "go green" like Apple
-Reworked buttons, ie: sensitivity, material, feel, responsiveness, analog nub
-Analog nub may become a recessed track ball much like the Blackberry pearl, except cannot spin forever, and when let go it returns to it's "center" state, maybe with some sort of spring underneath it, and made out of rubber
What the PSPII may feature in addition to, or differently from above:
-Large amount of internal flash storage
-NO UMD drive
-All games will be downloaded via the web or through PC/PS3/PS4
-Mini version of CELL chip, possibly with 4 SPU's max
-Mobile graphics chip with capabilities in par with, if not better than, PS2 EE
-2 analog nubs, that use the recessed rubber track balls I mentioned before
-Multi-touch screen
-PDA-like organizational tools and software
-Built-in 3.2 megapixel camera
-Built-in microphone
-More ergonomic shape
-640x448 (full size buffers like GoW2) resolution screen
-Wifi connection using N instead of G

i would say in 5 years when everyone is playing PS3 and want more from the PSP and sales drop to 0

It would rather cool if psp would have the cell cpu in it. I would say why not. I mean in the future.
PS3 has a 2X BR Drive. I am not sure how fast it is but I have heard that it isn't the fasted either. So, if internet speed can be faster enogh to match the drive's read speed, I think that it might be possible to play ps3 games on the new psp. Games like Drake relie entirely on streaming off from the disk. well, anyway, no more technicality. I am a bio man.

I wouldn't say it's even 4 or 5 years away. I think we're looking more like 2 years. I believe by next year all the basic ideas and plans for a true "PSP2" will be underway and by E3 09' we should hear something then. At that point the PSP would have the normal lifespan for a system, which is about 5-6 years. It might even be ready for a holiday release in 09'. We'll see what happens, but I would put my money on that being the most likely event.
These things are following the pattern Sony has made for all their systems. PS1 turned into PSX (smaller, could attach small LCD screen and battery pack), then PS2 turned into the PS2 Slim (smaller, able to read more formats of media), PSP turned into the PSP v2.0 (smaller, HD video output, more powerful). About a year to 2 years after the "slim" or smaller versions of each system was released, they release at the LEAST new info on the next coming system. The longest I think the period between the slim system and a brand new system was almost 3 years. So I think we can rule out having to wait 4 or 5 years before seeing a new PSP.

one thing I think they should have included is a camera lense front and back. I'm sure they could give the PSP some form of access to your PS3 Home account over the internet via the wi-fi to add pics and things - plus it could then be used for video chat also. Instead of decreasing the thinkness they could have engineered the screen to be able to slide up to reveal a keyboard for when using the internet and slide back if needed for when playing games......................Hell why not throw in a gprs/3g receiver and kick the iPhone out of the water

I sure hope they don't do that. This isn't a stationary console that you don't have to worry about junk getting in there. It's something you carry around in your pocket. While most of the time I try to keep my pockets relatively free of dirt and debris, it happens. I wouldn't want anything getting into the drive slot, and messing up the internals. Protection is a must for portables.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I can't see any of that happening...except for maybe internal storage...
-Internal Storage: Good Idea...couple gigs would not be a big deal (see iPod nano, or iPhone)
-Slot Loading drive- too many potential problems on a portable system IMO
-Slight CPU Clock increase- when you do things like this you border on making older versions obsolete...then developers start to utilize extra speeds, it leaves older PSP's SOL...
-Additional cpu for OS- no way in hell if it was efficient, or even feasible you would see it done on consoles before a hand held...also see my reasoning for clock speed increase
-New screen: Possible...but again you leave the old PSP's in the dark when developers start to utilize the higher res screens...
-reworked buttons: most of it i can buy but not the sensitivity...if you mean sensitivity like the PS2/3 controllers where it can sense how hard you push buttons then again....don't want to leave the old systems in the dark...
-analog nub: idk maybe we'll see...
regardless...sign me up for that Darth Vader PSP like yesterday!
