Just curious to see who has this in common with me. If you do play guitar, I'd like to know for how long and your style of music/influences. Or maybe if you'd like to start playing and need pointers, I or someone else can help you out.

Any guitarists here?

I play guitar and piano. I taught myself both and I've been playing since I was 8. I really only play the songs I write, but I go to www.tabcrawler.com every once in a while to learn some new songs. The style I usually play is dark/melodic/alternative/rock/heavy...etc. Nothing specific. What kind of guitar(s) do you have?

It's called an Electra and they were discontinued in the 70s I believe. They're very rare which is why I love it so much, and I always get compliments on it. But I'm saving right now for an ESP because I'm into metal, hardcore, etc. and to me you just can't beat an ESP when you're looking for lots of crunch. What kind do you have?

I'm not sure exactly. My uncle gave me his $1200 Yamaha electric guitar for graduation a few year's back. As for my keyboard, I have a Korg Triton [2000 bucks later]...and it's awesome.

Ah I'm a Korg fan. I almost bought a Korg synthesizer a few weeks ago...it was amazing. I'm not very familiar with Yamaha guitars though, but I'm sure it's nice (Yamaha fan). Do you have an amp?

I'm a getting 750 Watt Roland keyboard amp in a few months. I have a decent guitar amp, but I need to upgrade that piece of junk as well. But I play my keyboard more often, and I still have my Ovation acoustic which my aunt gave to me [family rocks].

Your family must rock. I'm pushing my mom to help me pay for a new Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier w/ half cab because ANY money towards that will be helpful.
So are you in a band or anything? Sorry I have so many questions, but music is the other part of my life outside of gaming, so I'm sure you understand.

Music is my life too. =) I'm not in a band, I make all my own music, and compile it on the computer. Heh...I'm getting a new laptop as well just for that.
I don't know if I could be in a band, as I'm going to college full-time to get my PhD in Science Nutrition and Human Physiology [lots and lots of work
]. That's also another reason why I'm scrapping up every last cent I have.
I'm so poor.
I can't even say that without hurting my brain.Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier w/ half cab

Haha...I slip up while saying it sometimes. I see how it would be difficult to play in a group AND go to college, but at least you can make your own and fool with it on the computer, which I'd love to do but my computer would die.
PS - Check my PM.

I have 2 computers. one i got recently thats new, but my other one is very, very, very old (i hope you got the point
). My family got it in 1996 and its still working
although we've spent at least $400 fixing it up and stuff like getting a burner... I really want to get a labtop cause it just seems so useful, but i doubt i'll be getting one anytime soon.

Ah I hope this doesn't start any conversation off topic...ARE THERE NO OTHER GUITARISTS?My computer is so old that it takes a half hour to create 10 seconds of music. i wanted to be a guitarists but i just didnt have the time. i had way too many things to do and i coudnt fit in guitar practise. although, i wouldnt mind picking up a guitar now, since playing the guitar applies to all ages
If i were to buy a guitar right now, i would get an electric guitar because the regular guitars seem too quite for my likeing.

I started on an electric, partly because one was given to me and not an acoustic. Once you learn and understand how to play, you'll probably want an acoustic to just sit down and play with when the electric has worn you out.
I think you should start, it was something I had wanted to do for a long time before I started and I can't explain to you how rewarding my hard has has been. And besides, the ladies always like us men who can play guitar.

01-30-2005 #15You're not going off-topic. In fact, I'm getting an Apple Powerbook G4 just for that purpose.Oh my. I can't even imagine that. My cousin just got an Apple iBook laptop and his program FAST, I mean VERY easy to work with. Ah I hope this doesn't start any conversation off topic
Apple's the best for music. Even the official Korg representative [I attended a presentation] was showing a demo of their new Triton keyboard with his Powerbook. I thought that was cool.

I agree. Apple is #1 when it comes to music, period. I'm not surprised at all that the Korg rep showcased the Triton on an Apple...it seems like when it comes to presentation and media, businesses like Apple (can't blame them, awesome machines).

Yes, plus the entire presentation of OS X looks gorgeous. =) Everything is sharp and high-quality. It looks a lot better than Windows...definitely a better idea when presenting a product.
I'm trying to learn the drums right now, but honestly... I SUCK! Double-bass drums are especially hard to practice with. Whenever I try and make a beat, I feel like a retarded monkey on crack.

HAHA. If I had space for a set, I'd be disturbing the peace all night long. And I know what you mean about double-bass drums and pedals, they are fun to play but I feel like an idiot if anyone is listening.

The announcement of any console usually has gamers worried- with limited units, it's not easy get one on launch. While many pre-order, others opt to camp out of game stores. We, at PS3land would like to offer would-be PlayStation 3 owners the easy route- pre-ordering.
fisssh.com has put together a list of stores, both offline and online, which are currently offering PlayStation 3 pre-orders to consumers. The list currently includes online mega store Amazon.com, as well as popular gaming store, lik-sang.com
Pre-order details such as the deposit required and the price that the PlayStation 3 will retail at is also listed.
The PlayStation 3 will be launching on November 11th in Japan with 100,000 units and on November 17th in North America with 400,000 units.
