What do you expect in the next firmware update?

That is to say, what do you think will be in the next firmware update? Background enabled wallpapers? XMB in game access? Color and theme settings for the XMB? Post your expectations.

If they will get all this stuff together, its pretty much the best OS the PS3 could have.

9. Universal Messenger which works with MSN, Yahoo and AOL !

I use a bluetooth keyb and mouse with my ps3 all the time. What makes you think its not supported?

everything you said exept 8 and 9. 8 is already out. plus you should be able to have an unlimited amount of friends. and let you put a pic as your online icon

ya I agree with the list everything on there seems pretty cool. But the only difference is to allow the ps3 play movies right from tv-links.com/uk. Plus a better flash player.

A decent web browser would be nice, but what I really is better "media center" functionality.

• Support for more movie codec's
• Ability to read files from local network (not just uPNP server). Red Kawa, Tversity and other tools almost work, but there is always something not quite right...
• Folders on the pictures and movies stored on the PS3 harddrive

Basically I want XBMC on my PS3. My old xbox with XBMC workes great (exept for crappy picture, and a lot of noise).

I don't think you would be forced to use a wallpaper. I imagine you could stick with the default background. I probably would although I'd like to be able to just choose the color.



As for everyone else, I don't think this was meant to be ANOTHER wishlist thread. We all know what everybody wants. It's the same **** everyone has wanted for a while. This thread is about what you EXPECT in the NEXT firmware update.

I think there will be support for EyeCreate and the HD camera. It'll be out before the next firmware so that's probably what we're looking at. Also maybe the ability to stream more video than just MPeg-2 files.

Yeah, that would be sweet, not to mention the business partnering with Google and Sony.One of the things I would like to see the most, is customized backgrounds. It would be sweet if they Sony had a building program just like Google sketchup.

We'll get the next firmware update rite before they roll out the Home public beta and it will have:

-cross game invites
-in-game messaging
-custom sound tracks
-Ey3 support
-enhanced store with music video downloads
-custom playlist
-customizable XMB (background & XMB colors)

This firmware = firmware 2.0

I assume we will get it before the end of July.

XMB will not come I feel until Home is released. Mark my words.

is it just me, or did the latest update take away the PS3's ability to play legally backed up DVD-R movies??
it'd be nice if the next update plays VCDs. the PS1 and PS2 never did. or is there a third party VCD player?

I would like to see that ability to multitask on the thing which is my biggest compaint. The thing has a ton of cores, you should be able to multitask.
