Firmware 1.9 Browser Overlooked Features

I haven't seen this posted yet, and I thought it was worth mentioning. In FW 1.9 if you type with a keyboard, the little manual textbox input box disappears.

Not only that, but the swirly 'loading' icon in the top right corner is not completely transparent. Before it averaged the color behind it and displayed that color, but no longer.

Just thought you all should know.

Also, maybe its just me but I think loading times are slightly better.

My favourite insignificant change is how it now displays what buttons you can press at every option on the xmb, rather than having to guess. eg Triangle/PS buttons showing up when playing videos/music/browsing menus etc.

You go to the actual image of the disc and push Triangle. So if it's a DVD, go to Video-->DVD Disk-->push Triangle-->Eject Disk.

Does the "typing without the on-screen keyboard appearing" work on 480i TVs? I read that it only worked on 1080i/p sets.

noticed that too and thought that was pretty cool.. now my gf doesn't fumble around with the buttons when shes trying to "explore what it can do"..


Didn't know about some of those features, the keyboard, the text, the load times and the loading icon. interesting, ill def check those out..

That was actually an update to the Store and not via Firmware. It was added two weeks ago, the day E3 started. It's nice, eh?

I also like how F4 brings up the address change menu. And I don't know how long CTRL+L brought up Bookmarks, but it does now.
