Very nice presentation, nice post. Always good to see the numbers. With all the recent news of retailers dropping HD-DVD it's only a matter of time. I think the HD-DUD camp would be hard pressed to continue into Q2 2008.

The format will not be decided until more people shift away from regular DVD. It's big news if blu or hd ships 100,000 of one movie. Well, that same movie SELLS millions the day it's released.

Yeah, gotta agree here. It's good news for Blu-ray, but in the long run, they gotta start moving a lot more units than this to really make an impact. The demise of HD-DVD will help a lot because consumers are probably very confused at this point.

I'm dissatisfied with my Wii... So now I'm gonna sell it on EBay at an inflated price to help pay for my new HDTV!

I don't care which wins, as long as one wins soon. I realize that it'll probably be 3 or 4 years before that happens though.

Latest Blu-ray vs HD-DVD sales number

Thanks to the OP for posting the updated information. Blu-Ray is widening the gap as you look at current trends and this only points to consumer preference is becoming clearer every day. Recently we have seen the retail industry respond to this by dropping HD-DVD support. IMO this will only make it that much more difficult for HD-DVD to survive beyond 2008.

For those that keep posting that this is insignificant in relationship to DVD sales you are blinding yourself to the fact that this is a new format and is currently outselling DVDs this soon after it was made available to the market.
