It will have sold a lot better, and i think the 360 will have dropped, but I'm not counting on the PS3 dominating the 360 for July. It's just that there was such a huge gap last time. My guess is both will break even or the PS3 will have a slight advantage of say 15K. Nothing more than that.

I disagree, PS3 sales for July should be really strong but it's not July I'm wondering about, it's whether those numbers are sustainable after July.
[Edit]Also, I wonder how many of the 60gb units are really left, with sales as strong as they seem to be this month and Target and co reporting they are low on stock, how long before the 80gb $599 unit becomes the mainstay?

I am stunned that some people appear to love their Playstation(1,2,3) or Xbox(360) more than I love the Denver Broncos.
Trust me, it's sad

07-29-2007 #6http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?op...=5599&Itemid=2He shakes his head, almost mournfully. Obviously, he’s thoroughly enjoying himself, but he hides it well. “I’ve walked a mile in those shoes,” he says. “I’m digging up my tortured past here, but remember Dreamcast?” And there it is. PlayStation 3 is Dreamcast. How delicious is that?
Amazing how things change. I guess what E3 taketh away it can giveth back.

07-29-2007 #7I ask him if the Blu-ray factor might come into play this Holiday. “I don’t think so. Not this Christmas. Otherwise, we’d be seeing some signs already. It’s still an expensive device. There needs to be millions of people saying ‘yes I want high-definition movies in my home’ and that isn’t happening.”
He adds, “This is different than DVD. That was a physical format change. The PS2 did very well out that change. But then, you didn’t need to buy new equipment to take advantage of your DVD versus VHS tapes. It’s a different story with moving from standard-def to high-definition. There’s investment in the TV and, quite frankly there’s still HD-DVD versus Blu-ray which is going back and forth depending on who’s got the blockbuster of the month.”

What is he talking about???
Were people playing DVDs in VCR's at some point and I just haven't heard about it???

Only issue I see with Sony this time around is that they launched with a format that wasn't on everybody's I want list. DVD was very much selling those PS2s in Japan and this time around PS3 is selling Blu-Ray which helps Sony win the format war but not the console war.

Great news of course. I can't see Sony bundling the 80Gb version with Motorstorm for $100 more. Stores in Canada are already bundling Motorstorm for free and this is a country where you pay 40% taxes in your salary and 13% on just about everything you buy. If Canada is getting Motorstorm thrown in I just can't see Sony charging for it.

Well, let's put it on the line.
Here are my July Prediction numbers:
Xbox 360: 164,000
PS3: 179,000
I can't see the PS3 jumping much more than 80K when last month they had just under 100K.

I think it'll be around 150k for PS3 and X360, the difference won't be greater than 15k. Target says they are sold out, but I went to 2 Targets today where I live and I saw 4 PS3 on each Target.
Waiting for the following to support PS Vita:
Bethesda - Id - LucasArts - Valve

celebrate all you want... am pretty certain that with 360`s price drop we are really going back to less than 100 thousand units per month.... even if it is 50 bucks.... people always go for quantity... not quality... sad but true...

How much do you think it's going to do in July Lefien? You seem to be way over optimistic. I predict the PS3 do to around 150k.
