PSP is more expensive in the states than i thought!!1

Here is a link too the announcment of the PSP, dates and pricing is revealed here. I think the PSP will be cheaper here in Europe, mainly because just about all hardware that is sold here is cheaper, PC chips,TV's,DVD,s(not the disc though)) my DVD costed about 50 USD and is top notch Sony quality.
But hey, i'm happy for you Americans, it didnt reach the hights of 400-600 like the professionals said it would....well i never doubted it would have a low price

$250 is alot. i dont even really want alot of the crap that comes in the bundle. i just want the standard pack like the japanese got. Oh and yeah they put in region codes, so all those ppl who got an import are screwed.

    way to go sony.

$250 seems like quite a lot to me. How lame could they get? [apparently very] I'll still be buying one anyway regardless of the price.

Even though I am very excited about getting my very own PSP as soon as it comes out, that price is just too high for my budget. So I guess I will have to wait a few months until the price drops. this is a real sad thing for me...its gonna take a while before ill get back to normal but then again, when the price drops ill be saving the difference between the two prices...

i am, unfortunately, in the same boat. Seeing that price announcement made my heart sink, but there is a good side.

Reasonably, the price will drop in 6 months (at least for now, but we shall see about how microsoft changes that in the generation of consoles)
    6 moths + Febuary = August
    e3 = may

i plan on being so involved with the PS3 that hopefully ill be able to get the psp neaer the ps3 release, and be content with that until the ps3 has also dropped in price

no no no..you don't get it, the whole reason why it's that high is because there's a chance they'll run out too soon and what a better way to do it then have a value pack only to buy? So until they can get more units faster I bet a 199.99 system will come back...the vaule pack is good though

Why are people complaining for? Its not that bad of a price, look at the Ipod, for a mini its 240 and it only plays music. Even more for the regular and pic ipods. I can handle the 250.

Yes, of course they'll eventually release the PSP as a stand-alone unit. But like you said, they're probably going though a shortage right now. I still don't mind buying the Value Pack. Sounds like a good deal to me. =)

Okay just got off the phone with ebgames, i pre-ordered the PSP awhile back in my store and it includes a mini bundle. It doesn't include games or accessories. But what i was wondering is this the whole movie of spider man 2? This is the mini bundle itself. Also talking to the guy said that if you and a friend wanted to play a game and the other guy didn't have the guy you can send him a demo of it and then you can play, i asked if this was for all games and he said from what he seen from the DVD they give their employes it will do this for all games.

Sony PSP system which includes: ($249.99)
    PSP Hardware
    32 MB Memory Stick Duo
    Headphones with remote control
    Battery pack
    AC adaptor
    Soft case and cleaning cloth
Movie/music/game video sampler UMD disc including multiple non-interactive game demo
And for the first one million PSP Value Packs shipped, a special UMD video release of the feature film Spider-Man 2 from Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Yes, they were showing off Spider-Man 2 with the PSP on a few occasions. It's definitely the full-length film. The Value Pack looks pretty good. =)

Oh, I must have read it too fast because I thought it was $250 for only the system. But if it’s for a bundle, I agree with you (well, some of you) it isn't that much. I wished they didn’t include the memory card because I would have liked to save the money for the 32MB, and buy the 512MB. The bundle seems pretty good and that extra Spider man 2 film is like the icing on the cake.

Yea i know what you mean, but look at it this way, your getting the headphones with remote control, Battery pack, AC adaptor, Soft case and cleaning cloth,
Movie/music/game video sampler UMD disc including multiple non-interactive game demo, and Spider-Man 2 all for 250. The case and cloth prolly 10 bucks, movie, 20, headphones and remote 20. So the 32mb you can consider free.

Im not to hot on the bundle pac. All the stuff you can get for cheaper or better versions, ie the memory stick, and the headphone are no doubt going to be pretty bad, though do look cool.
Let me guess, you picked out yet another colorful box with a crank that I'm expected to turn and turn until OOP! big shock, a jack pops out and you laugh and the kids laugh and the dog laughs and I die a little inside.

Dear MacGuyver, Enclosed is a rubber band, a paper clip, and a drinking straw. Please save my dog.

A lot of people I talk to who pre-ordered their PSP say the headphones are junk. And I wouldn't want to pay for a 32MB memory card when I can put the money toward a 512MB or 1GB card. But I can't wait any longer for the PSP, so I'm going to buy the Value Pack anyway upon its release. =)

The American version is region-coded for games, the Japanese version is not.

man, why would they do that though? I can see how it gaurentees that they make the money, but it's just a pain in the ass for the users if they decide to try a different area's game.

Well...if you order a Japanese PSP, then you'll have no problems playing different games, but you'll only be able to play Japanese media for everything else [movies, music, etc.]. I don't understand why they had to region-code it for the American release.

thats what I was trying to say, if anything it seems like it would just isolate everyone even more so people would lose intrest of the japanese side of things(movies and games)

I guess they have some sort of stratagy to achive something, although I dont know what that something is. I dont have a problem with the PSP being region-coded because I'm 99.99% sure I wont order a game from anywhere other than North-America.

Me and my friend orderd two PSP,s from japan when it was released, he orderd the Value pack and i the ordinary one, the Headsets in the Value paack are ok, they arent as bad they want it too be, the memstick is worthless for other things than saves(glad i bought a separate 512mb memstick ). The carryinh case is ok, it wouldnt rescue your PSP from everything, but that too is better than people say. And the system, it is the most beatifull thing oin the planet, though i am still getting used to using the Circle button instead of X
