I bought an extra controller the other day and was considering buying another USB charger cable for it. I passed cause I realized I have another cable just like it that came with the digicam I bought 2 years ago.
My only concern is that I know that cable isn't USB 2.0. I'm just wondering if it will still charge the controller the same being USB1.1?

Yea, I use my camera's cable to charge mine all the time.
As long as it fits, and the 4 lights are flashing I'm fairly sure it's charging.

Anyone that fits worked for me, inlcluding digi camera and camcorder.

You should be fine since USB 2.0 was originally rolled out in 2001 and most cables should meet the 2.0 spec by now.

i believe only data rate changed between the usb1.1 and usb2.0 spec. you should be absolutely fine charging your controller via a usb1.1 port and/or cable.

Great! Thanks a lot guys. You saved me $10. I'd buy you all a pitcher, but it's kinda hard finding a localized pub to all of us when we're all over the world.
BTW I used up my rep giving for today trying to give you all rep. I think I missed one person because of that limit. I'm a sucker for saving $.

aye, as most've said. it'll work and with no worries about breaking anything either. talking about saving money... rather than buy extra cables, i just stole all of mine from college. i love digital photography rooms!
it still makes me giggle when they cant find any cables to hook the camera's to the macs...

USB 2.0 has approx. 40 times the bandwidth of USB 1
So if your controller takes 30 minutes to charge with the supplied 2.0 cable, it will take 20 hours with a USB 1 cable.
If you have that kind of time it is fine, but you really should use a USB 2.0 cable.

the usb 1.1 cable should work for charging.
HOWEVER, if you have installed the driver to use your SIXAXIS on ur computer as a gamepad via USB, you will need a 2.0 cable to do so.

might need to sign up however :S
it doesnt work for some games though as the game needs to support a dual analog pad.

But it makes no difference. The cables are identical, the specifications of the wires in a cable are identical between USB1.1 and USB2.0
Anyone saying different wants to try an sell you new ones.
This ONLY applies to cables however, USB1.1 and USB2.0 active hubs ARE different (passive hubs, again are identical). Infact any passive USB1.1 device (cable/hub/whatever) is fine with USB2

pretty much all USB cables are the same, doesn't matter what you buy them with they all worth with other devices as long as they fit in the slots.
