Do the original xbox headsets work on the 360. This is the one that I have:

Nah, it wouldnt work.
The 360 headsets have a particular plug and socket that goes into the controller.

However, If you're in NA or UK, your Elite/Premium should come with a headset anyway:

Hello I am currently contemplating on buying an Xbox 360. If I do I want to buy a premium (with an HDMI slot) but I have been hearing the proper cables are not included (like PS3). I asked if I could just use the same HDMI cord as I do with my PS3 and people said yes, but that you can't have optical then.

My question is...Could someone please explain the advantages of using optical as well rather than just using an HDMI cable?

I've been thinking of getting a xbox 360 elite. I already have a ps3 and I'm still very satisfied with it. I have a $2500 limit on my best buy card and since I've paid off my tv and ps3 in 7 months it's just been burning a hole in my wallet to use it. I really wanna play bioshock and halo 3, but the whole rrod scares me. I can't buy a console and have it bricked before I get to enjoy. Are the elites better when it comes to hardware failures?

Lol, the same question every time.

Currently, the elite and premiums in store are using the same mobo.
So they're basically the same thing, just with different size HDDs.

In regards to their reliability, I really cant stress enough how much the RROD failures had to do with the original systems having a less than adequate cooling system.
They would pump out a lot of hot air from the back.

But now, all repaired units within the 3 year warranty, all units manufactured since mid year and all the recent 65nm revised units have the heatsink modification.
And comparing the heat between my old one to my current one, the difference is massive.
A 3.5 hour binge of Halo 3 and the machine only puts out a weak stream of warm air, compared to a strong stream of hot air.
Basically, the heat generated isnt enough to cause the kind of damage it used to.

The MS engineers ensured that the models in stores now are reliable for the Halo 3 launch.
It would have been disatrous otherwise.

So to answer your question, Yes, all current models are reliable.

How effective is the complaint system on xbox live? I have a feeling it has very little effect, but i may/could be wrong

They respond when a player gets a certain amount of complaints.
A single complaint wont get them banned, but rather will contribute to a number of people complaining about that persons racism, cheating, etc.

After a while, if they keep that behavior up they'll find their account has been banned.
So really, it still is worth filing a complain if a person is a total pig.

Ah cool....thanks for the reply. I definitely think the complaint was entirely called for. I've read about the racism that can occur online and, until the early hours of this morning, i never encountered it. But I was truly stunned by the crap that this person was aiming my way.

Its a shame how such idiots can still exist!

Yeah definately.
I never hesitate to file the complaints since I know of a youngin who unfortunately was subject to some very abrasive remarks on LIVE.
No one should be exposed to it

Sorry, I just had to hear someone say it. Whenever you look on these forums and see all kinds of people having problems with whatever it just puts a little bit of doubt in my mind for spending that kinda money on something that won't work, especially when they have those falcons or whatever coming out that are supposed to fix that issue.

Just wondering....when i'm playing COD3 online, there are the annoying occasions when a message comes up telling me "Game session no longer available." Is this a little annoying problem with the game, or is there something i can do with my internet settings to eliminate this?

Its not occuring all the time but it is annoying when you're in the middle of a good CTF match etc.

I'm trying to keep the costs down, and I've heard there are alternatives to the offical adapter($99, ouches!) What should I be looking at and how much could this end up costing me?

Okay, so i have an elite and I've been downloading a lot and i don't have ultra high speed so is a bit slow so i put a lot of demos and downloads but i think that the 360 has energy saver or "sleep mode" how can we activated or is it even there?

Yeah go to the system blade>consoles settings>shutdown and you can turn on background downloads.
When you do this, turn your 360 off and it will keep downloading in a low power mode

What you need is a wireless ethernet bridge. You can get them for 30 or 40 quid if you shop online right. Prices really vary, some of them can be over 150 but just look hard and you'll get a good priced one. They do the exact same thing the official adapter does really.

Thanks for the reply! I've been doing some looking around. This isn't calling itself an ethernet bridge, but I think it's the same thing. I also need a router, right? If I get these and Ethernet cables as needed, will I be set? Or do I need to get anything else?
