well it was bound to happen i guess the little monster they call the wii is on a rampage. let just hope that in time the ps3 will take its fare share of the market and regain total console dominance.

That what happens when you go against a console with a 2 as the first number in the price. I think the price is driving the sales more than anything right now. Well, other than the awesome game that is Metroid. I might buy a Wii just to play it.
So there you go.
This is why Nintendo is winning. I almost typed myself into buying one right there without realizing it until I actually saw what I typed. Very tempting at 250 bucks.

but then to realize that it won't probably be worth it.. since the Ps2 is also getting a couple of those..
I think wii is a good idea with a lot of potential. Maybe next gen, they can actually have good tech incorporated with the the wiimote (Graphics, gameplay, etc etc..)
So until then I will play use PS2 for the motion sensing.. and buy the next nintendo/PS with good graphics AND with a good motion sensing controller.

I agree 100% with XSpike_SpiegelC the wii will stop selling any ware from 20-25 mill and 30 mill at the most the 360 will stop around 25-30 and the ps3 will stop at around 60mill+ and thats assuming half of the people that bought a ps2 don't buy a ps3 and I dough it.
Last gen the Xbox sold 22+mill and the GameCube sold around 25+mill but the PS2 sold 100+mill so unless 80% of the people that bought and liked the ps2 don't buy a PS3 there is no way in hell the ps3 wont win.

But the real competition is for the 360 is the PS3. That's where the lead is and needs to be for the 360 to succed this gen (not sell more than the PS3, but be a success).

Yes, well we haven't seen August sales numbers yet, you just wait (they're going to be high, I bought one!) Microsoft could reclaim its title, the empire shall strike back!

The Wii may be dominating right now, but just wait, the PS3 will be on top soon. Over the long run I think PS3 will be first, then Wii, then 360.
Just my opinion though.

When you look back at the first holiday season of the 360, it's obvious that MS lost 1 to 1.5 million sales in the first Christmas due to supply problems. Those lost sales didn't come later - they were lost forever as people spent that Christmas money on other gifts.
If the 360 had been fully available in the first holiday, then MS would be in a much stronger position than it is now. Its momentum through the first year would have been a lot stronger. But it lost those sales forever, and MS will forever be fighting to make up for the lost 2005 holiday season.
You can say the same thing about the Wii now, which might have sold 15 million by now, if more units had been available. But even with its supply problems, the Wii is still a huge success, so the lost sales aren't discussed much.
But the PS3 hasn't been supply constrained at all, as we well know, and has been widely reported. This is the biggest problem for the PS3 as I see it. It fulfilled all of the possible sales at its price, and still had inventory left over. This tells me that the PS3 has a real uphill battle ahead, as it fights against two consoles that both had high demand exceeding their supply.

This article couldn't have been written in a worse moment. Honestly, I see it as a quite desperate attempt to get some clicks from a website not really in the business. (http://roughlydrafted.com ??) before August sales numbers are unveiled.
September is the month of Halo and August was the break point where Microsoft started releasing their biggest titles for this year. If anything, Microsoft did concede a quite beefy amount of share, specially to Nintendo. But as for Sony, nothing really suggests that this tendency will continue.
As a matter of fact, starting in August, Microsoft's advantage over Sony should start to expand once more and should also start fighting more closely with Nintendo's Wii.
