Remember that kid who wanted a PS3 for saving his dad's life?... Sony gives him one!

You may remember our story about 9-year-old Matty Lovo saving his father, Matt Lovo, who passed out behind the wheel of his tractor-trailer. Carrying more than 100,000 pounds of weight behind him, young Matty took control of the big rig and called for help via C.B. radio despite never having been behind the wheel of a car.

Now, he can take control of a SIXAXIS and save the day virtually this time on his brand new PS3. Sony rewarded Matty with a system and some games for his quick effort, which saved him, his father and others who could’ve been seriously injured. Sony presented Matty with the gift at KGW, the local news channel of Oregon and Southwest Washington.

"We've seen this topic talked about as far away as the UK and all over the U.S. People like the story a lot," Lovo Sr. said in the KGW article.

The reach of this topic was spurred by Gaming Target, which brought the original story to light on August 10, 2007, the day after a CNN interview with Matty revealed that if he could have anything as a reward (besides his dad, of course), he'd like a PlayStation 3. This easy-to-miss mention was a news afterthought that I wasn’t even sure I’d write about.

However, I pulled up the CNN transcript to get the exact wording, decided to publish the story, saw it spread around the world via the Internet and now Matty Lovo has a PS3. Finally, an industry news story about video games saving a life rather than being blamed for taking one violently.

Obviously just for publicity's sake but it is still a good thing to do.

They really don't need to, they already have their consoles selling like hot cakes.

That's cool of them to send him one. Really, this news was easy to forget, and the fact that Sony did give him a free system sounds like 30% PR, and 70% compassion.

    Good for them.

I like how I got an infraction for saying "Wiitard" when other people only get warnings for saying the F word.

Not only that, there could have been some impurities in that tap water! Just getting him a bottle of spring Aquafi...oh wait...Poland Spring alone saved his life.

They gave this kid a Wii before it even launched who was blind but could make out where to go and things by sound (similar to how dolphins get around). He would rock fighting games without being able to see and **** people up. It was on Ellen 'show. It's some rare **** that humans can't really do but this kid was able to. ^.~

Here's a link of the kid and his abilities. Pretty amazing ****. Ironically on this vid tho that I found he was mostly playing PS3 lol..

Story/Vid on CBS about the kid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpBm4KoWsrY

And this is an article on it but the vids are down when Ellen gave free Wii before it launched in US: http://www.nintendowiifanboy.com/200...ng-daytime-tv/

All in all though, nice of Sony to do this for the kid.
Every disappointment is a blessing in disguise....
Causes and effects are not real, but are habits of our mind to make sense of the observation that A
often occurs together with or slightly before B. All we can observe are correlations, not causations; from which we make inductive inferences.
