I've just read up on it a bit.
It seems like the only type of religion that I can truly relate too. Im thinkin about getting into it. What are your thoughts (about the religion, not me. I care less.)
(NO IT DOES NOT IN ANY WAY INVOLVE SATAN OR THE DEVIL)

Satanism is not so much a religion as it is an ideology and the founders basically chose the name to irritate Christians. Which is a bit childish, really. Much like many satanists. Satanism is simply a way of putting yourself and your personal wants and needs ahead of those of others. It's like a liberalism, but without the tiresome economics.
Agnosticism will do just fine for me, thanks.May you go aground on your way and found a kingdom on a foreign shore.

Putting yourself befor everything?
I like the sound of this..
They make you pay $200 to become part of the religion and church.
Almost as bad as Scientology.

I prefer to remain agnostic and believe in karma when it works for me. I can do that because I don't answer to a specific god.

I'm somewhere in between Athiesm (implicit) and Agnosticism. I believe that there are no Gods, personally...but of course no one can be 100% sure. Skeptics ftw

Satanism is not a religion, it's an idea like True Poet said, especially LaVeyan branch of Satanism (I honestly don't know much about mystic branches and could care less). However, it's anti-christian in its own way: it promotes that there is no god to whom man should submit himself, man is the god in itself - there are no higher beings. It also despises the weak and strongly encourages people to try their best to reach their full potential. In short, Satanism critizises christianity for its "contamination of human mind, paralyzing effect which kills the very instict to live and endless denial of own desires".
Satanism as a ideal is simply celebration of humanity. It's the ultimate hedonist movement with a basic moral guideline of doing to others as they do to you. No more turning the other cheek, as "the next blow could prove to be crippling, even deadly".
I relate to LaVeyan Satanism quite a bit. It has nothing to do with supernatural, but chose the one who stood up against the God himself as a symbol for freedom and rebellion. "The Satanic Bible" is actually good and poetic read, don't let the name intimidate.
"Grand Declaration Of War", greatest album by Mayhem, is based upon that themathic. Track number 2 sums it up pretty well, watch the lyrics:
2. In The Lies Where Upon You Lay
In the century where man dies
We the huntress of the hollow hills
Must put ourselves above pity
Above self deception as law
We must be again as once were
We the soul of the earth
As reaping time descends
The sour gain of mercy withers
Into the night we must go into the darkest abyss
To a level of consciousness unknown to Christendom
We want life we crush the dream of heaven
As we bring the blade down one swift move
We are the chosen ones chosen by will to life
All your life liars crawl on your banded knees
As you finally die you will eventually have lost more
By not living by the sword than what you lose in death
Not by mercy by strength we end your pity lives
Not by spirit by flesh we awaken the beast within
Knee deep in your repulsive blood we march
Victorious by the power of our minds and bodies
Watch the twilight of your god
As your system cracks and all your life is dead priest
Take a look into our minds
Feel the pulse of omnipotent strength
Take a look into our souls
Feel your life drained of everything that was
Hear my words feel my wrath
Your death is sweet
All your life is dead priest
DEAD!!

You would've thought 'Satanism' had something to do with Satan..

It's not even a religion to begin with. It's more of an anti-thesis to Christianity for atheists who have a beef with Christianity.
If you're 40 and looking like that is your idea of fun, then Satanism is your thing.
Personally, I view the satanic bible as a pseudo-intellectualism attempt. I find Nietzsche, Shopenhauer, and Sartre's (among many others) writings much more interesting than lavey's garbage.

Well, not agreeing on more childish stuff like Black Mass or other "rituals" encountered even in LaVeyan mundane Satanism. They are just plain stupid. Although the promoted sexuality and joy those happenings have certainly beats the average sunday church, it's still not my thing.
Yup, it's anti-thesis to mainly christianity but also to other religions that seeminlgy suppress the will to life by making basic stuff like sexuality & earthly happiness subject to repention and "sin".

The core tenet of the church of Satan is this: "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law." It amounts to self-gratification through any means, knowing no limits, only pleasures and lusts.
I challenge anyone reading this to ask themselves if that's not exactly where modern day societies are heading, fixated on "political correctness" and denouncing anything or anyone that attempts to say something is "immoral" when we just want to do it because it's fun. Secular Humanism is Satanism in sheep's garb.

Oh boy, here we go again...
I bet you heard about secular (LaVeyan) Satanism first time from this thread, seeing how your first quotation is a) definately not from LaVeys pen b) wrong.
I agree wholeheartedly on the political correctness part. Why is it that people are not allowed to sell LSD to adults, but they are free to brainwash their innocent kids to believe in supernatural, ever-unprovable psychogods from other continents? Tell me that Tzar. Where the **** are the morals in defiling innocent childrens minds with a bunch of ****ing fairytales and suppressing their natural sexual desires, telling that they will burn in hell for even thinking about the girl next door before marriage? Answer that Tzar, you lousy hypocrite!!! What even worse is that such a practices should be not critizised on the sake of political correctness: "let people believe what they want to believe". ****! Why is it that such a political correctness applies only to religion? Politics, PS3 vs X360, Wii vs Atari 2600 etc etc debates go on and on on hourly basis but **** off when it comes to complete lunacies! Too sensitive! Handle the believers like little kids, pat their heads and give them cotton candy for the silly little thought but DO NOT argue or insult them - they might cry OR sue your ass and steal your money. Muslims, jews, christians all the same, whining when someone hurts their feelings with rationalism and irony, up to the point of "cartoon rebels" of Denmark last year.
Your last sentence was also a ****ing incorrect piece of llama diarrhea. It goes vice versa. Secular humanism started in 18th century, mundane satanic philosophy in 1960's is largerly it's über-naturalistic derivative which basically says that we the humans are our own gods and should largerly follow our instincts for a happy life instead of listening to some authority above us, for a adult man has ultimately no authority to respond except himself.

I hear a lot of Satanists don't actually believe in Satan, they all believe there is nothing after death and think that we all should enjoy life while we're here.

LaVeyism Santanism is in parts very good/interesting, albiet kinda obvious and somewhat plagerised or heavily influenced, philosphy. Personally I wouldn't consider it a religion, although a lot of so called followers seem to treat it as such.
However some of it's other ideals are somewhat intolerant and hateful. With something like this it's better to take what is good from it and ignore LaVey's claptrap, of which there is a lot (Coming from someone that's read The Satanic Bible and various other bits and pieces).
The ritual magic, satanic imagery ansd music and film that came with it (check out Lucifer Rising kiddies) is interesting/funny/artistic, but only that. For all intents and purposes it's meaningless **** to parody their idea of meaningless ****."It's a wonder you still know how to breathe"

Just for the record, Grifer is completely owned and I am vindicated.
Check out this site, read what they say about their lifestyles and beliefs, and not only will you find that everything I said is supported here, but the exact quotation I offered from Crowley is used in the exact fashion in which I said it was.
The Modern Church of Satan
What you will find here is exactly what I said it was: humanity doing whatever they wish for whatever reasons they wish, rebelling against any and all moral constraints, and considering this the pinnacle of existence. "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law" might very well be the single central tenet of faith for anyone who follows Humanism and denounces the existence of objective moral values and God Himself. Hating me for saying it doesn't make me wrong.
Oh, and because I found this to be hilarious, I offer you a quotation from the site itself:
The Modern Church of Satan is a natural evolution of Satanism. Satanism is Darwinism. The strong survive and the weak are thinned from the herd. Satanism is also about evolution. We continually improve upon that which needs improved. We do not sit back and simply accept things for the way they are. We better ourselves and our world as it relates to us. This is the Satanic way.

Just as I said dude, just as I said... "Handle the believers like little kids, pat their heads and give them cotton candy for the silly little thought but DO NOT argue or insult them - they might cry OR sue your ass and steal your money."
...and you just happened to prove it.
