    Please don't listen to those..

Fisrt of all, having Component cables doesn't mean it's a hi-def tv.

    And the second one?

He probably doesn't have HDMI, and Component cables work just fine. You really should check to see if it is high def though, because they probably aren't worth it for you if it isn't, do you know the model #?

You certainly don't need an HDMI connection for "good" HD quality stuff. If anything, you would never need an HDMI connection with that TV, since it wouldn't be able to do 1080p. Just because it has component, doesn't mean it has HD capabilities. My TV has component, but it's an SDTV. Sucks, but what are you going to do. If it's less than 3 or 4 years old, chances are it's an HDTV, so you should be good to go.

ive never seen an LG rear projection so im guessing its older, and no, just because a tv has components does not mean its HD, as stated above.

You really should check to see if it is high def though, because they probably aren't worth it unless you already have the cables, but it sounds like you do.

Do you know the model #? It would be a big help, and we can't tell that it's high-def just because it's big, I have a friend with just about the same tv, and his is 480i.

What does that matter? Not only have I seen anything that is different because of that, but since when is 56" a small tv anyway? (also, I knew he said cm to begin with)

Just because it has component cables doesn't mean its hd. 480p requires Component Cables.

no you will not be running HD since it's a regular SD tv. 480p is still better than regular 480i so use the component cables. don't expect great things because 480p doesn't compare at all to 720p or 1080p.

Don't listen to these guys telling you that it's HD if it has component cables, they're swimming in a sea of retardedness. If it's not HD, don't expect it to look phenominal, just bigger.

Just because it is not an LCD or plasma doesn't necessarily mean it cannot do some form of HD. If it has component connectors, then at least there is a chance it could run some HD. I run my PS3 on on a CRT with component cables, and it gives me 1080i (but no 720p ). Obviously this doesn't give great results on some games as they don't output at 1080i so it scales it down to SD, but others (including Warhawk) do run at 1080i which will look better than SD!

Bottom line? It sounds like you need a set of component cables anyway, to get the best picture out of the equipment you have. Get them, plug them in, and then in the video settings, see which resolutions work ! Even if you can only output SD, at least you know it is the best SD picture you can get
