the psp has been out for about a year in japan, have there been any price lowering in japan or in america?? I hope it comes soon, then i might gonna get one

I think they might lower it a month or two after the PS3 launch. Because people who had purchased a PS3 and since you will be able to connect the PS3 and PSP and do other stuff. They would be attracted to buy a PSP.

I am surprised that the price of the PSP has not been lowered yet. The PS3 launch may be a good reason for them to drop prices. That and the fact that the $100 DS is beating them in sales.

How long did it take PS2 to get a price drop? I mean the PSP hasn't even been out in the US for a year yet.

Its not going to happen before Xmas2006. Sony is already producing PSPs as fast as possible, so lowering the price would just make it harder for Sony to keep up with consumer demand. It would amount to Sony losing valuable revenue senselessly.

I originally thought this would change after the release of the PS3, but even if Sony opens new plants, their manufacturing process is still going to be saturated to keep up with the demand for the PSP and PS3. The PSP will stay at 200-250 until sales sharply drop.

My sentiments exactly rallyracer. You've got to imagine the PSP being a good source of income for Sony right now. The PS2 is starting to wind down, the PS isn't out yet, and Sony electronics in general aren't selling the best they should be.

They'll offer a price drop sooner or later, but I would expect it to be early March. Deffinatly a price drop when the PS3 releases.

its all about money, yes money for sony. sony wont lower the price until they see sales start to drop and slow down or when they want more. right now its selling good and making sony lots of money needed for ps3.

well the PSP will be out a year here in march.
so i would think they would do a proce drop.

I just don't see a price drop happening any time soon. It released in the UK only 3 months ago, it hasn't even been out in the US for a year, and Japan has the $200 basic pack to keep them satisfied. The only time I could see them lowering the prices is if sales decreased sharply.

I was thinking the would lower the PS2 price to compete with the Xbox 360 since the PS2 is close to the end of its lifespan while the PSP is relatively new and still has plenty of demand.

I doubt they will lower it anytime soon. I think they'll lower it after they sell an amount of handhelds. Or after a specific time. I would say maybe after a year, like September of 2006.

I think sony can do a price drop for psp but around Q4 of 2006. if they are selling will now then I think they will keep it at the same price.

I agree also. To me, I think it make sense to do a drop when the PS3 Ships into retail stores.
