    iPod Evolution

The leaps between the generations of ipods are HUGE, especially the last one. 2 years ago i payed 400 dollars for a thick 20gig ipod with a 1.5 inch (?) display and now i have my 300 dollar video ipod witha 2.5 color display and 30 gigs! wow

I don't think it's as much evolution as much as a marketing scheme to make sure people buy a new one as often as possible. If people looked at specs alone the iPod wouldn't be that big a deal, but it's the trendy image that makes people keep buying each "generation" of iPod.

Well it's a very cohesive evolution! But anyways you should remember that technology progresses no matter what and you should be ready for the Next-generation cause it the PS3 generation...

they have "evolved" quite a bit if you think about it, a few years ago you could buy an ipod that had only 5 gigs of storage capacity and was a little bigger than the video ipods of today plus the screen was a desperite monochromatic, and now i own an ipod that is about 1/3 the size of the original and it holds 4 gig, plus the color screens and the picture capability.

I recently bought a $300 20 gig photo ipod only to find out that a month later it had been replaced with a 30 gig video ipod at the same price!

Ipod's have been becoming more and more advanced and truly is amazing how far they have come (the 5th generation video ipod's are so thin compared to the one I bought).

I still really like the concept of the first generation, the buttons on the side of the circle are really handy. But personally I prefer different mp3 players, like the one i own right now, with full touch control.
