PS3 receives award that highlights its role in the centre of the living room
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has been recognised by the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) for the very first time, with PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3) receiving the award for home entertainment.
EISA is the largest editorial multimedia organisation in Europe, with a membership of nearly 50 Audio, Mobile Electronics, Video and Photo magazines drawn from 19 European countries. This year’s award winners were selected after the deliberations of a judging panel comprising journalists and independent technical experts and resulted in the home entertainment award going to PLAYSTATION 3 for the very first time.
“To receive an EISA Award is a very high honour in the electronics industry and therefore to receive one for a product that is usually thought of as simply a games machine, truly highlights the versatility and quality of PS3,” said David Reeves, President, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. “We firmly believe that PLAYSTATION 3 has the capabilities to sit at the heart of the living room and very much belongs there. This award highlights that claim.''
The 2007-2008 EISA Awards were presented at a special Gala Event on September 1st, 2007.
Notes to Editors:
PLAYSTATION®3 (EUROPEAN MEDIA CENTRE): PLAYSTATION®3 delivers the next generation of interactive entertainment - from Blu-ray Disc™ movies and HD games to easy music, video and photo storage. Access to the PLAYSTATION®Network adds an exciting new dimension of connected entertainment experiences.
The EISA Judging Panel commented: “Sony’s PS3 is a wonderful example of a powerful media centre, thanks to its inclusion of an audio-video-photo player as well as a web browser to navigate, download, play and chat on the Internet. In addition there’s a 60GB hard disk for content storage, plus Ethernet, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, and four USB interfaces allowing connection of external hard-disk storage and USB accessories such as keyboards. However, the most important function of the PS3 is the built-in Blu-ray disc player, which also reads DVD, CD and SACD, as well as embracing the new surround sound formats. Top-notch 1080/24p resolution is available from Blu-ray Discs via a HDMI Ver.1.3 interface with x.v.Color; better still, the PS3 up-converts any DVD movie to 1080p resolution and it accommodates users who prefer to use a traditional remote control - one’s available as an option. Last but not least, PS3 is of course a very advanced game console and a worthy heir to the grand PlayStation heritage.”

Man I did read this for awhile, but it does still make me happy to read this, and btw the Playstation 3's controller the "SixAxis" did also get an award on been the best next gen controller, but the people here does still diss/bash it,but Sony will make a newer version of it,that will have 3D Rumble aka next gen Rumble/DualShock 3,so Sony & us should be proud on having such a true next gen console guys
